Chronicles of Riddick demo decides to make an appearance
What took so long? The Chronicles of Riddick: Developers Cut demo is out at long last. You can finally slip into the bald man's shoes and play one full level of the game. The 200 MB download is almost certainly worth it, if all the reviews are to be believed. The average rating, according to GameRankings.com is 91.1% Not too shabby.

This is a very good game. If you haven't tried it before, go get the demo now.

I know I'm in the minority, but I found this game to be anything but entertaining. The story was boring, the characters were mostly irritating, and I'm pretty sure now, more than ever, I hate Vin Diesel.
There were a few cool facets of this game, but it definitely didn't live up to its hype. I felt a little cheated after reading the reviews and looking forward to a good game, only to find out it was nothing special. I wish I had a chance to try the demo first instead of wasting my money. =

Aaron, you must not have played Doom 3. ;-)
Riddick had a lot of alternate paths and offered different ways to play. You could go the stealth route, shooting out the lights and strangling guards in the dark. You could go in with guns blazing. The stealth/night-vision was very well implemented. It also did a good job of giving you a visible body in a FPS game. Seeing your shadow as you creep about was a very cool effect that was useful too since it would alert guards to your presence.
While good on the Xbox, it is better on the PC. The PC also has a director's cut. Once you beat the game, you can play it again and listen to director commentary directly in game. They talk about what atmosphere they were trying to achieve in certain situations as well as a lot of other cool stuff. Very well thought out and executed game.

Anyone else had trouble installing this? It was in the process of extracting itself, and then it says "Error reading Setup.ini" and quits. I tried downloading it from two different mirrors, to no avail.
