I'm happy. I preordered from eCost about a month ago. I can't wait. Sucks for PC Connection people. They've got a long, humiliating wait for them, unless they decide to brave crowds in order to get one.

Godspeed.

PSP v.s. GF

PSP all the way :)

Stupid EB in Ottawa (Canada). Aparently the PSP launch isn't big enough to bother staying open until midnight. Whoever made that decision at head office should be fired.

I want more pics of the Sony GIRLS!

Are alcoholic beverages being served?

What celebrities are there?

I should have swung by after work but the weather was absolutely horrible and none of my friends wanted to party tonight. Any single girls up in that place? Hit me off with some more details about the party.

I'm not so concerned with getting a PSP until the other features pan out like better video and pda features, but I want to know more about this party that I regret not checking out.

Anyone knows if Sony is going to play the "not enough machines for everyone" card like they are STILL doing in Japan? Although it has been a while since they first released it here, second hand models are still sold within hours at prices close to the new ones in shops, and often more expensive at online auctions... (If Sony US gets out of stock too fast and someone is interested to get them straight from Japan, send us a message at 3yen.com)

As for the "not enough machines for everyone" card, if Apple can play it so well so often, why not Sony? The PSP's launch is an ace in Sony's cap, you can't miss the PSP in the media and the buzz is certainly going around.

I walk by the sony metreon (in san francisco) every day on the way home. Today I had to walk by a good long line outside the playstation store, at about 5:30.

If I'd been about 5 minutes later I would have apparently seen a police-escorted armored truck pulling up, making a delivery of PSPs.

My tax dollars at work.

No, because despite what you've heard, games are region coded. My copy of Ridge Racer will only work on Region 1 devices.

That is totally wrong. They are NOT region coded. There is a region ID on the box to tell you which territory it was approved in, but it has nothing to do with which machines it will play on. Don't listen to this guy.

I was #95 in the Metreon line - it went great, my PSP is in perfect condition.

There were some executives walking down the line to talk to if you wanted. I talked to 3 people from Sony's legal department; they talked up downloading video over 802.11, so it seems like they're working on that. The funny part was the guy was hyping BitTorrent to get video onto your PSP now... seems like they arer working the iPod angle. They also didn't have any immediate plans to TV-Out UMD video, because of piracy, and that they are currently working to get a lower price point for UMDs in general.

I saw some SanDisk executives too. I didn't get to talk to them, or I would have asked them what the next price point 1GB MSDs be. It was nice to see a Ubisoft producer advertising Lumines too (although I like calling it "Lu-mines", rather than "Luminous", which is apparently the official line.) Apparently it shipped this afternoon (they only had about a dozen titles at the Metreon.)

The spring green color of the OS in March is a nice touch. Sounds like it wasn't a good correlate of the weather in Manhattan, though. :)
