He's mad as hell, and he's not going to take it anymore. Which of course means he'll run out and buy
this game the instant it's released, because it's Nintendo, but at
least he got to moan about it first. Apparently ultra realistic graphics are a bad thing. According to this veritable
Max Schumacher, it seems that simply by pushing the envelope of 3D graphics, the latest Zelda title is going to be an
exercise in mediocrity.
A lot of older gamers champion the days when gameplay was more important than graphics. The gameplay is the deciding
factor on whether a game flies or dies. By condemning the new Zelda title in such a fashion, the writer is ostensibly
saying that, in their opinion, the only thing that matters is graphical style. If that truly were the case, every first
person shooter would be the same, but I don't think anyone would even begin to say that Doom 3 and Half-Life 2 are the
same game.
At least the industry seems to getting over this obsession with all things cel shaded. That's something.
