With the recent news that software publishers plan to price gouge on the next
gen systems, piracy is a subject worth revisiting. There are those
who can understand piracy, and those who can't and think it's tantamount to physically beating the publishers with
large sticks.
The thing that intrigues me is that with piracy, rationality goes straight out of the window. If you buy a book and
find the last 20 pages mistyped, you'd take the book back and get a refund. Yet with software, you're stuck with it,
regardless of how badly the developer screwed it up. A person can only be burned so many times before, at the very
least, they want to try before they buy.
The one hard fact about piracy is it is never going to go away. There will always be these discussions. And blood
pressures will always be raised.
