Player stabs buddy to death over virtual property dispute
According to ABC News Online, a 41-year-old man stabbed his buddy in
the chest multiple times after he learned that his pal had hoarded approximately $870 from the sale of a powerful
"dragon sabre" that was jointly owned by both players. Let's put this in perspective: the average Chinese citizen made
just $1,100 per year in 2003. That sword was worth a lot of money, which perhaps explains why gamer Qiu Chengwei got
more than a little upset about it. But multiple-stabbings-in-the-chest upset? When people feel that they need to take
the law into their own hands to get anything done about a situation, it won't be long before the court system gets
involved.
