It's no secret that Midway's next pending iteration of the Blitz franchise has me as giddy as a schoolboy in a stadium full of giddy schoolgirls. Just how giddy am I, you ask? Maybe just giddy enough to pay to have my Xbox repaired, and that's saying something. Thankfully, IGN unearthed some more dirt on the soon-to-be next-to-only football game out there, just in time to keep baseball season from enslaving my very soul. IGN interviews Mike Bilder, executive producer for Blitz: The League, and comes away with a ton of new facts that prove once and for all that this ain't your daddy's football sim.
Aside from the over-the-top action of previous Blitz titles, expect a much wider repertoire of unsportsmanlike moves, as well as a whole slew of mature material fit for a piece of congressional legislation. Oh, and can you say, "fully customizable teams, players, stadiums, and cheerleading squads?" And Midway's done more than just make the game edgier than previous offerings. The addition of online play offers up potential for a ton of new opportunities, from head-to-head clashes in virtual leagues to online betting via computer-generated odds. All this without an official license? Move over, Madden. Meet the Grand Theft Auto of sports titles.
