First pic of the Xbox 360 controller on ourcolony.net?
ourcolony.net continues to entice. The latest comes from Russell, who sends us here for one pic from the site…
And here for another pic from the site…
To make this pic…
Not much to go on yet. More to come, we're sure…
UPDATE: Some readers have been posting pics of what appears to be a slim, white Xbox controller with a nipple. Where are you guys finding this stuff? Here are the images.

Looks like they've made the analog stick on the right the primary interface and put the d-pad on the bottom right.
Wow. That's, like, innovative. :-P
And what's with Microsoft adopting the Apple iBook colors?
Nicholas van der Ploeg @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
full controller: http://img66.exs.cx/my.php?loc=img66&image=xbox3609od.jpg
The analog stick is a different color though. It could be a different revision, I'm sure they're still working on it.
Russell @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
That picture was in a PSP and there is no way Microsoft would have it's competition and product together like that.
Franklin @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Maybe that's just the controller given to the developers to use, but not the actual contoller that will be sold with the unit.
At least I hope so. Because man it's really ghey looking.
Wamie @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Looks like the xbox controller with a different D-Pad
LINES @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Looks like one of those "500 games ON YOUR TV" type controllers.
Kalil @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
"there is no way Microsoft would have it's competition and product together like that."
So why does Microsoft make VirtualPC for Mac? :P
Russell @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
To confuse the consumer! :P I dunno..sheesh!
Alex @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
"there is no way Microsoft would have it's competition and product together like that."
Why would Microsoft be responsible for that pic?
The back of the controller, notice it's wireless - http://img36.exs.cx/img36/1622/noticenocord4mw.jpg
Daz @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Well, MS makes money from Mac software, why else? The controller looks utterly shit by the way, like a cheap third party one been sprayed white, especially the one #2 posted. Too shiny, button too close to the edge. The D-Pad well thing looks like it will make your thumb bleed.
wolssiloa @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
the position of the analog 1, dpad, and analog 2 are in the same relative positions as the Gamecube controller in #2's pic. hmm
Kamalot @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Because the Gamecube got it right.
Now Sony needs to get off of their butt and put the analog stick on the primary position for a change.
Kim Laughton @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Oh my word!
http://www.music-mad.co.uk/ourcolony.htm
#12 The Gamecube only got it half right. The button layout on the right isn't too hot.
TCG @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
That looks way too much like a photoshopping of a Dreamcast and an X-box S controller, but then again, blurriness. Still looks way too dreamcasty for me, since I still have much love for my DC.
Blademonkey @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
The back looks like a DC controller, the front looks like a rebadged Logitech Gamepad (http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2311,CONTENTID=7008)

NovusVir @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
It looks like the prototype for the original xbox controller.
Eric P @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
It looks fine...don't know what everyone is freaking out about here. Between the front and back, you can tell it has dual shoulder buttons, like the PS2, which was to replace the use of the dumb black and white buttons from s-controller now. I'm not fond of the pearl white color there, but that doesn't really matter, as I'm sure it will come in different colors! M$ told us they want gamers to be able to customize everything!
Eric P @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
I wonder if that inner circle glows in ring-like 360 degree fashion when connected!? More credibility goes to the Xbox 360 moniker if that's the case. RINGS everywhere!
Dylan @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
If anyone cares to join our growing colony, go to ourcolony.net and enter the word "play" at the first text box. Click "join existing colony" and type in the number:
91612313
Fill out the short info form (no e-mail required)--let's work together and hopefully get some info on the new xbox!
Thanks!
jonathan @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Looks to me like MS decided its time to "rip off" someone else apart from the little guy, cough*ipod*cough
Slash @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
I think its fake...
the people at ourcolony are just using this as a promotion... and most likely faked the pictures.
Vella @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Looks like...well, it looks like crap. I can guarantee you that there is no way in hell that Microsoft would ship that with the Xenon. Look at the gloss, and button placement. If anything, that is just a "proof of concept" wireless xbox controller. It seems (functionally) to be a step backward from the S, or even the Duke.
Of course it is related to the current ourcolony images, but it's really hard to tell what the overall controller will look like, as of yet.
My bet? It's a decoy.
Dean Shan @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Looks like a Dreamcast controller to me.
Joe @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Obviously, MSFT ID designers suck.
Ashen Victor @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
along with these two controller pics, there's also a pic of the "system", too:
http://www.cgno.com/news/776.html
Banaroo @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Well,
This certainly may not be the final color. Remember that all of the developer boxes for Xbox (before they started their consumer production) where a translucent green.
Also, one "form over function" gripe would be that though the buttons may look attractive... their size, spacing and position on the controller just flat-out suck on these images. They're so tiny that it seems it would be hard to "play" with them. THe should be big and fat, for quick finger acceess.

Is there a rollerball in the centre of the controller I see? Maybe this is why it's called the xbox 360?
Michael @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Ha! I can't believe that photo could be the Xbox system. How would anyone integrate that box into their existing entertainment center with that half-halo sticking out?
Rob @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM

Fake Fake Fake And fake
Steve @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
If that's genuine, that's the ugliest controller I've ever seen.
Even if it ain't genuine, it's still bloody ugly!
mcppants @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
wow...dude thats cool.
that whole ourcolony.net thing is so weird...and i have a suspision thats for the Xbox 2/360/Xenon/next...or w/ they choose to call it...just like ilovebees did for Halo2.
strange.
Dusty McGraw @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
That controller will pose problems for gamers, Im sure we could adapt but at least make adapters for the old Controller S or something like that, why change something that works? Is the name for the new Xbox really going to be Xbox 360? That name is one of the gheyiest names I have heard for a new gameing console.
Jesse J. Anderson @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
these may be fake, but the controller WILL be white, and it WILL be wireless. I know a girl who was just in the filming of an upcoming X-Box commerical (we both live in the greater Seattle area - near Redmond) and as she tried to explain it to me over the phone the things she said was (1) it's white (2) it's wireless and (3) it has some sort of extra button thingy on it. If these pics are correct I'm assuming she was referring to the weird orb/ring in the center of the controller.
Also if you're curious... in the commercial they were in downtown Seattle (Capitol Hill in the middle of the night with huge lights to make it look like daytime) and there's a bunch of people dancing around around holding XBox controllers in their hand. Sounds like a weird comemrcial to me but I guess we'll see when it comes out.
A.R. @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
All right, for all of you saying it looks like a DC controller, it does nothing of the sort. Here's a pic of the DC controller. http://www.thocp.net/software/games/consoles/sega/pictures/dreamcast_controller_01_large.jpg Look carefully. Now, here's a picture of Logitech's Cordless Precision Xbox controller. http://images.ea.com/eagames/official/goldeneye/rogueagent/us/screenshots/misc/18885_XBoxCdlsCntrl_150428.jpg
Looks to me like it's probably a dev model of the controller like many have been speculating. But I wouldn't put it past MS to release something that ugly...just look at the original Xbox controller. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
caligula @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
I think it looks hell cool, I like the white,
its dope!
Hydro @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
thats an ugly ass controller. i hope its just a mock up.
Men of Athenry (DKM) @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
WOW it's got no more blackwhite button i hope this is just some sort os phony picture
Daniel Delgado @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
The Xbox 360 controller looks like a Sega Dreamcast controller mixed with a Logitech wireless controller WTF no Black and White Buttons?
Sammy the 13 yr old @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
People, this is the real 360 controller. If you are a little loss or still don't know yet the x-ball in the middle is the button you click to connect to X-box live and the online market where you download previews and get the latest info. Looks pretty simple to me, but simple and easy is what you need to play the best games right? Imagine 16 knobs and buttons to play GTA or NFS: Underground. - 13 Year Old
