The dance continues. Oh, how they vie for positioning. This just in from Brandweek…the Xbox 360 will be shown off on
an MTV special sometime in the near future.
The pre-E3 announcement would break with industry tradition.
If the news is true, it makes sense. Introducing three new consoles in one expo would probably make our heads
explode. Too much, too fast. This way, the whole world can see the thing at the same time, and talk about it on the
playground in the morning.
There's a nice little slap in E3's face at the end of the Brandweek article. "It doesn't make sense to unveil the
product behind a closed door, at a trade-only event," said Peter Moore, VP marketing and publishing for Xbox. Ouch.
Characterizing E3 as a closed-door event may be partially true. But, up until now, the show had been considered the
primary path to mainstream coverage.

UPDATE FROM ENGADGET: MSFT just released some more details about the broadcast. The program/infomercial will be called "MTV Presents: The Next Generation Xbox Revealed", be hosted by "entertainment icon, seasoned gamer and Xbox fanatic Elijah Wood", and premiere on May 12th at 9:30pm EDT.
