Xbox 360 to get its debut on MTV
The dance continues. Oh, how they vie for positioning. This just in from Brandweek…the Xbox 360 will be shown off on
an MTV special sometime in the near future.
The pre-E3 announcement would break with industry tradition.
If the news is true, it makes sense. Introducing three new consoles in one expo would probably make our heads
explode. Too much, too fast. This way, the whole world can see the thing at the same time, and talk about it on the
playground in the morning.
There's a nice little slap in E3's face at the end of the Brandweek article. "It doesn't make sense to unveil the
product behind a closed door, at a trade-only event," said Peter Moore, VP marketing and publishing for Xbox. Ouch.
Characterizing E3 as a closed-door event may be partially true. But, up until now, the show had been considered the
primary path to mainstream coverage.
[Thanks Russell!]

Joystiq always miss all the details, even when their sister site is reporting it:

first a stupid potential name and now associating themselves with a joke of a television channel. it's not like they really care, but i'm losing more and more interest in xbox related anything. i'm not trying to troll, this is just my opinion.

abominabledrphibes,
Who the hell cares what TV station they reveal it on? How does that matter to anything? If anything, its smart to put it on MTV because of the level of exposure it will gain. Its common sense.
And there is nothing wrong with the name XBOX 360. At least MSFT made an effort. Its not like PS3 is an innovative name or something.
You just sound like a cynical jackass with nothing good to say about things you have'nt even seen yet, lol. Must be a nice life...

I can't believe www.gaming-age.com has got pictures of DOA 4 for xbox360. Tonight is going to be impressive.

I just noticed that 360 really implies that Microsoft wants to "spin" things. Well, if you spin the '6' in Xbox 360 you get Xbox 3d0. Also, I can see that M$ wants to "turn things around" after finishing a distant second in the last console war. But if they turn things around 360 degrees... well, they'll be right back in the same position.. with Sony having a huge lead.
