Gizmondo Europe Ltd. announced that a new
version of its handheld would be available in the UK on April 22nd, highlighted by a £100 price drop. The new
version will include exactly the same features as the standard model. So what's the catch?
The new Gizmondo will be Smart Ads-enabled. Smart Ads, you ask? That's right. Up to three
advertisements a day will be delivered to your Gizmondo, and since you can't purchase a Gizmondo anonymously, the ads
will be targeted towards your tastes, presumably. Now that's dirty.
Gizmondo price drop, but there's a catch…

Sounds ok to me. Get 100 quid off, doesn't interrupt games (apparently) and some ads give money off things. I'd probably opt in even if the price wasn't dropped.

Thats GENIUS!!! I have to say I love my gmail ads, because they show me relevant stuff, plus theres nobody FORCING you to buy anything. Anyone who is scared of adverts really needs to be locked up, because they're all around us trying to get your attention!

I wonder how much they could have possibly made on that thing. I would've thought they met their demise already with it due to the overwhelming mainstream popularity of PSP and DS and the high price of Gizmondo. I'd never touch the thing, especially with advertisements on it now.

I'm guessing "adds" being an abbreviation of advertisements is a European thing?

Destined for total failure. A complex, full market with no room for these shennanigans.
At least, this is how I feel about it.

lol im glad noone is moaning about the price anymore tho... just the adverts lol.
i think 90min of adverts a day is fine, heck im not going to watch them on my giz ill just leave them playing and see what goodies i get free at the end of it, gizmondo are also giving us a free £90 voucher for being early buyers of the giz to get the differnce we paid back in games or accessories yay :D. now all i have to do is wait for sticky balls, colors and richard burns rally
