Madden 2006 (Next-Gen) to be shown off April 23rd between noon and 1pm ET
We may get our first good look at the next generation of sports games sooner than we thought. The word from Worthplaying is that EA plans to strut its stuff on the television during the first hour of ESPN's coverage of the NFL draft. The ad will show once on TV and a billion times on the Net. We can expect to see photo-relaistic visuals and lots of heavy hits. If we don't, there'll be hell to pay.
UPDATE: And thanks to Iced_Eagle, we now know that you can see a new screenshot every day leading up to the announcement.

Sweet! Thanks Iced_Eagle!

i actually broke this to you guys earlier but no one responded, so i broke it to gizmodo. to clarify your post, Madden NextGen and Madden 2006 are DIFFERENT GAMES. NextGen is only for 360 and PS3. The screenshots are probably from 360, since PS3 SDKs aren't out yet.

Where did you break it nintendo_is_dead? Did you use the tips link? I didn't see it, if you did.
Iced_Eagle @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Yup he's right.
Madden2006 has been unveiled at IGN. It's for the "current-gen" consoles.
Next-Gen is obviously for next-generation consoles :)
I think they will be almost exactly the same though, in like game play and all, maybe a HUGE boost and graphics, sound, etc?
SetupWeasel @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Nintendo_is_dead, huh? Great, we need more walking flame wars around here.
Iced_Eagle @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
Well don't bring it up, and nobody will be bothered by it much :)
Everyone does have a right to an opinion, yes?
Eric P @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
I guess whether it's good or not doesn't matter. It's our only choice now! You better get it right EA!!!!!!!

And here is the rather unimpressive second picture, released just a few minutes ago...

The skin and arms especialy look jagged and disturpingly plastic...

Also, just from the camera angles and atmosphere it's pretty obvious to see that these are just fmv's and not live axtion game sequences, making them fairly irrelevent. Anyone could fire up Maya and make these on their pc.

This is next gen stuff, why in the hell are you guys saying this is an fmv? If that was an fmv im sure the quality would be a lot better then that. Nice name poster #3, I see the same thing happening to them after their next console.
R-Squared @ Dec 18th 2005 8:44PM
This game is absolutley SICK! Any idea when it comes out?
