Another video game movie. Must be Tuesday. Mercifully, Uwe Boll is nowhere in sight, so there's
a
possibility it won't stink.
The movie is budgeted around the $50 million mark, so they're not cutting corners on cost, too much, and really, how
much does a dry ice machine cost anyway? Principal photography started yesterday, with the movie due some time next
year.
The list of folk involved in the production could raise red flags for some, when you see The League of Extraordinary
Gentleman listed as a credit.

I hardly think noting that LXG's cinematographer is a bad thing. It wasn't horribly shot, it was just poorly executed. Of more importance are "Brotherhood of the Wolf", "Finding Neverland" and "Pulp Fiction", don't you think?

I can understand changing a few little things to differentiate the game from the movie, but completely changing the main charater I can't stand. It automatically turns me off. Will I still see it? Probably, but it'll be on a used DVD.

Alright, you scared me a LOXG but then when I saw the name of Christophe Gans I am all reassured - the director is a visual genius and his previous films, despite their limited distribution, have gained a cult status among fans (Necronomicon, Crying Freeman... and in a lesser way Brotherhood of the Wolves).
Can't wait for this one.

I know some people who worked on The League of Extraordinary Gentleman. The FX, the model-making, etc. There were some quality people involved in all departments. I heard it from an informed source that the director was an idiot. That's primarily why this ended up being such a huge disappointment.

I have a good feeling about this one. The names attached and their credits are of good quality, especially Brotherhood of the Wolf. If you've seen it then you know that it's an incredible film on so many levels.

They're filming it in Toronto.
Saw receipts from the production company behind the counter of the art supply store next to my school.

I have to agree with WizarDru and Oomph. LXG (what a fantastic marketing acronym that was) had some problems, but cinematography wasn't the main one. This has potential with a good writer (though I haven't seen any of his later stuff) and decent director (I liked Brotherhood of the Wolf, but I thought it wasn't as good as advertised). Don't mess it up...

#2: Do you realize that each Silent Hill game has a differen't main character?
I'm so happy that they decided to create a whole new story instead of simply adapting one of the games. I hope they don't mess it up the way IDW Publishing is with the latest batch Silent Hill comics. "Paint it Black" = Yuck!
