I read James' post yesterday on the Morgan Securities analyst's predictions about the next-gen Console Wars. As a refresher, the analyst says that this generation of consoles won't die until the next-gens are embroiled in the heat of battle. This idea jibes with earlier reports that the Xbox will get developer support until 2007.
But perhaps the most controversial prediction he makes comes in the form of a sweeping statement on how all three machines will fare:
"I think… in 2010, Sony's going to have 55%, Microsoft's going to have 35% and Nintendo 10%, with all three of those having +/- 5%."
This guy clearly doesn't know Nintendo fans. We wish him luck in his coming struggles against hate mail.
But it must be pointed out, because it's so frickin obvious that we may actually overlook it…
As long all three companies are making money, who cares what their ranking is?
Come on. Sony and Nintendo know how to make a profit in this business, and MS has probably learned their lesson by now (no $100 loss on every console, right guys?) If the dollar rules, which it does, then just relax and enjoy the games. All three massive companies are likely to do just fine.
