New pic of Xbox 360 controller on Team Xbox
Gunrave sends in word that Team Xbox has a new pic of the next Xbox's controller. We thought this thing was supposed to be wireless. It could end up being a shot of a prototype, though — the black on white just looks weird.
The one interesting visual clue is the size of the man's thumb in the shot. If it's an average-sized hand (i.e. smaller than my gargantuan man hams) then the controller may be a little smaller than the current S-controller.

Does this come with 100 games included inside the controller that can be plugged into my TV? Because this looks JUST like something you'd see on The Shopping Network for 19.99 with some guy whos fake hair is so evident, that he's spewing out "BEST GAMES ON THE MARKET..."
Jacob @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
Those buttons look like non-moving bumps with paint.
Prototype, for sure.
Ben Sanborn @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
thats the prettiest dreamcast controller i've ever seen.
im pretty sure thats an Interact pos
DannoHung @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
Good god I hope they make one for people with giant hands.
I LOVED the original XBox controller because it felt just plain right in my hands.
Please, oh please Microsoft.
seth @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
Why white? So they can add a third color to my current black and gray swirl of components in my entertainment center.
Why can't they make different colors, so i could choose and match everything...grrrrrr!!!
Black, gray & now white, I don't think my retinas could handle such an exciting rainbow of colors, or colours for any Canadians/Brits reading :)
Jason @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
If I'm not mistaken I didn't see any controller ports on the one photo I've seen of the new XBox.
I was hoping all the controllers would be wireless.
Nicholas @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
If it is an early prototype, it's doubtful that it would be colored at all. That may be why it's white.
Chris @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
If it is the new controller where are the black and white buttons from the original controller? ...doesn’t look very backward compatibly in that respect.
Banaroo @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
This looks completely bogus:
1) None of those buttons are "press-able"
2) The sizing is just plain childish
Can we have the next "leaked" photo now, please?
seth @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
i heard they movied to triggers, maybe two triggers on each side like the ps2 controllers
Brian @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
I would think the controller would match the system, that fugly thing does not.
Rianousuke @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
As far as it's having a cable. You need to keep in mind that the dev kit for the Xbox 360 is a desktop computer. . . .an Apple as ironic (and disgusting) as that may be, and thus, you need a CABLE to connect the controller to it in the developement phase. It's simple USB, as was the original Xbox controller, hence why they're both PC friendly, though the first one was only PC friendly with some custom modifications. Hehe.

It looks like it´s just covered in primer, and is waiting to be painted. As LINES said, it looks very cheap.
I actually don´t think the pictures that has been released are final, since that would take away some of the surprise factor (and thereby news-value) of the release. They would probably want to lower the expectations a bit (at least not risk them getting unrealistically high).
darkripper @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
It seems a very crappy prototype..
forkeyguy @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
Oh...my...god! Microsoft have lost it. They have completely lost it. If they release that, there is no way im getting a 360. A wireless one would be way better.
Xbox360-forums.com @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
ew ew ew!!!
I'm absolutely confident in saying that isn't the final design. For starters as it has already been pointed out, its wired and secondly its u_g_l_y. The controller can play a vital part in the sales of a console since it provides some assumption at the sophisication of the console/games. White would get horrible and dirty after a time too!
Grant Watson @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
It looks very SNES to me.
Brian Pipa @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
I agree with DannoHung - I don't think I have large hands, but the S-controller makes my hand hurt. It's too small. I picked up a used original controller (the large one) and it feels MUCH better in my hands. I thought I was the only one that liked the bigger controller.

I'm a big microsoft fan but if that IS the controller I'll wipe my hard drive and install linux and write M$ instead of MicroSoft and smash my xbox into tiny pieces.
NewXBoxGamer @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
That is butt ugly! Actually, all pics I've seen of this thing is butt ugly. I hope this thing isn't white or light grey or anything like that. Time will tell and I'm a patient lad, so I'll reserve final judgement until it comes out for real, not these prototype or leaked shots.
MosquitoControl @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
I still hope they DIDN'T move the triggers. The trigger placement was the best part of the previous controller. It was so much more comfortable to have the controller resting on your trigger fingers rather than gripped by your trigger fingers.
Fantaz @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
That's probably a shot of a regular current-gen Xbox third party controler. People can be made to believe anything with the right words.
Grant @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
First, let me get this out of the way, this is UGLY!
I think this is how the layout will be,but not the ending look.See the circle in the middle,it will have something in it.Probably something green.
CaptSnuffy @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
i love the way it has shitty mac styling
marty @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
nothing wrong with Mac styling(Microsoft could learn a thing or too).Still the best pad has to be Sony's.That picture has to be a fake, but maybe not goin on what the original Xbox pad looks like(havn't Microsoft learned anything).
ARF @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
I so hope that they have a large version...I am in love with it and hate the small controllers and the assumption that everyone has small hands
