EA hinted at a Burnout title for the PSP last June, and today, that title was officially revealed. Burnout Legends will come crashing onto the PSP this September. The game promises to bring updated versions of choice cuts from all three Burnout titles to date. Legends will support wireless multiplayer and a GameShare demo that will allow multiple PSPs to play a stripped down version with only one copy of the game.
Burnout Legends is definitely a strong entry into the PSP library. EA will probably reveal a lot more details at E3. We'll keep you posted.

At last, we have an official announcement of the PSP game, along with some interesting details. I'm looking forward to trying some of the Burnout 1 & 2 tracks on an engine containing the gameplay refinements of Burnout 3. The inclusion of Game Share means we can get some fellow PSP owners (who aren't familiar with this fun racing series) to join in on the action as well.
1UP has a very good preview of Burnout Legends up, including some tempting screens.
Criterion is an extremely talented developer, and PSP is an extremely powerful system--I'm confident this will be one of the best handheld video games of the year!

Why did they feel the need to bloat Burnout with so much useless gimmicky junk? Burnout 2 > Burnout 3. When will EA learn that we don't WANT all this over produced JUNK?

A port is when Mario 64 is moved to the DS.
A new game in an established franchise are what most of the PSP games are.

Also, why the complete lack of Burnout love for the GameCube? I was hoping that with the move from Acclaim to EA for this franchise that it might go completely multi-platform since thats a big part of EA's philosophy but no luck I guess.

In an effort to relieve you of any attempt to plead ignorance on this subject in the future, I invite you to read this preview:

As you can plainly see, there are several new modes of play that are exclusive to this PSP game. Even though it is approaching PS2-level quality, this is a new game in its own right.

I've read previews and all new options added are basically there because this is a best of the Burnout series so its basically a port of all 3 Burnouts so far along with modes that allow for play between older and newer versions of the series.

First, you claimed this is a mere port "with another name and possibly one more feature added."
Now, you've changed your story to say that this is "basically a port of all 3 Burnouts"? Really? ALL THREE OF THEM? So what you're trying to tell us is that for fifty clams, someone could get ALL THREE BURNOUT GAMES IN THEIR ENTIRETY, on a handheld, with additional options and modes on top of it all?
If so, then that's even better news than we previously thought! Thanks for the scoop!

Burnout 3 was a brilliant game, and I personally wouldn't mind to buy a complete port for PSP. Of course, they added bunch of stuff from 1 & 2, added new modes, and put in incentives to play via wi-fi including "game sharing" feature. Calling that a port just wouldn't do justice for the new game.
What would I ask Criterion & EA though, is a wider variety in the background music. All these rock stuff from EA Tracks are great, but it would be cool if they threw some techno and hip-hop tracks in it - sort of like what EA did with NFSU.

The Burnout game isn't a port even though it only has some additional content and different modes.
Best argument EVER!
