I just can't agree with you Frankly, in fact you should really look at the big picture here - and I've not called (or meant to) you a Nintendo hater, you were bang out of order though mate. (thanks for apologising for the name calling though)

Anyway are there any real "fanboys" on this site (bar clint). Look up the definition, you just jump to the conclusion that because we defend Nintendo we are fanboys - we are simply gamers tired of the hatred toward Nintendo.

You question it, why then do we get the first few reply's in a Nintendo DS report being taunts of virtual boy. The second a Nintendo fan points out the system has sold over 5 million units in four months (clearly disproving this insane comment) then BAM they become a fanboy. Do you honesty think that is fanboyish, if so look up the definition.

Or how about the comment about Nintendo doing a Sega, then the torrent of hatred agreeing and wishing for the demise of the biggest company in the industry, and one the that has done so much for it. Then all it takes is for a Nintendo fan to point out that they make the most money and agaim BAM they are labelled as fanboys. I see nothing to indicate fanboys, just fans with fact, not an insane torrent of leet claiming "Nintendo the best and Sony gay".

An even more insane recent example is the "Touch Dic" story, it's recent, just have a quick look and tell me the Nintendo haters are justified in calling SetupWeasel a fanboy.

As for me liking the system if it was Nintendo's (in reference to your question), I can honestly say I wouldn't. Did I like the purple and black Cube when they were released - no. Did I slate Nintendo for doing it, yes. I bought a black Cube as asthetics aren't everything but the second the Silver Cube came (with Wind Waker) I sold the black to a mate and got a good colour. I did the exact same with my PS2 as well, from black to silver.

IMO, white, black and purple are poor colours for my entertainment setup. It has nothing to do with which company is making the unit, and if the N5 isn't silver I'll be pissed and be forced to upgrade when the silver model hits.

You know maybe people wouldnt be pissed off at Nintendo so much if the company didnt give reason to. Its really not our fault that people like #49,50 and Setup are blinded by their uneeded loyalty. Let me ask you guys something? How many GC games did you buy in 2004? The sequal to Metriod? Mario Party? I used to own a GC and an Xbox. The Xbox has more games and better games. Nintendo pisses people off because they think releasing 2 or 3 good games a year is enough for their fans. They have done this since the N64. For GC owners this year brings them Resident Evil 4, Killer 7 and Zelda. Sad thing is that two of those titles isnt even exclusive. Expect Nintendo to focus more on this one game at E3 then the next-gen, and why doesnt that piss off Nintendos fans? Didnt Iwata say that hes having a hard time get third party support for their next system, because of it being so Revolutionary. This is why you guys get called fanboys, you look passed all the negatives of this company and argue, "Nintendo's all about games" or "There is no videogame industry without Nintendo". Bottom line is you guys are fanboys, and as long as Nintendo has you guys they will continue to sell regardless of what they do. Kinda reminds me of the last 2 Star Wars movies and the most recent game, they were horrible but fans still sucked it up. Its pathetic.

You see PrettyObvious we CAN see the problems with Nintendo, and this backs up that all the people who like chucking around names like "fanboy" (let's leave #50 out of this) don't have a bloody clue what they are on about.

I'll happily admit it is a problem that the system has 3rd party problems (the Cube that is), resulting in less 3rd party games. So what's your reasnoing for labelling anyone who even shows the slightest bit of admiration for Nintend a fanboy again.

I'll also happily admit that Nintendo secrecy has led to 3rd party concern - the financial department don't know anything about the system so of course they are wary. Not long till that changes though, what 8 days. Again what was your logic behind calling every single person who shows the slightest respect for Nintendo a fanboy?

The problem stems from people like you making idiotic claims like Nintendo should do a Sega or that the DS is the next VB.

The second someone like myself posts proof that this is rubbish we are labelled fanboys - is that the only way you can "win"? Must be because you can't fight facts.

An honest question, if a Nintendo fan (me) can cause this commotion by posting something that in the end isn't negative (the proof is there, me admitting looks don't matter to the games) I presume you guys aren't used to it very often in XBOX threads - or do you get constant idiotic trolls as well (apart from clint, he pisses off everyone non-Sony).

I have to say the award for the biggest pile of **** argument on Joystiq goes to this, what the **** has this even been about. I thought I posted somthing about Microsoft's 360, how the hell did we get to this absolute rubbish!

The sequel to Metroid is a very nice game and Paper Mario is also a very good game.

Call me a fanboy, but everyone sees what he wants to see.
I mean, what PrettyObvious stated about Nintendo, any other guy who isn't fan of MS or Sony could say the same about Xbox or Playstation.

It's very very very hard to have a CLEAN look on things, someone who uses his/her brains knows this.

I don't know why I posted this, because this completely hasn't got ANYTHING to do with the topic's title, but I just felt like writing this...

Oh, and to comment on this topic; I don't really like the design, nor dislike it. I also think it looks alot like MAC, but not in a bad way. And I DO think white is a cool color for consoles, I hope the Revolution will be white either honestly....

I think it's quite big nontheless, not in width, but in depth... in general :)

I think I have to agree with number 50. I don't think I would be playing videogames if it weren't for Nintendo. And one of the main reasons I love Nintendo, is because of their very, very inspirational games designer, Shigeru Miyamoto. This man and his ideas has single handedly shaped the course of our industry. Of course with the help of his team mates to make it a reality. Logically speaking, I would fear for the games industry if it were just Microsoft and Sony. I think Microsoft is trying to change some things, but for the most part, they are taking the same road. As with Sony. I can't help but feel that Nintendo is the most innovative company. I couldn't give a rats ass about 3D gaming until I saw Super Mario 64. In a way, I think Nintendo has kind of spoiled there fans. The produce such great games that it's hard to play anything that's really not on par. After I played Wind Waker for example, the other games I had seemed like shit. I have all consoles by the way. It's tough. I'm not a fanboy, but damn, it's very true that Nintendo is incredibly influential to this industry. And to be honest, if I don't see any pretty incredible innovation soon, I just might completely stop playing video games. I think the market is way too saturated. I look at a game, and I think, "Haven't I already played that before?"

I think this new XBOX looks sharp! It's ridiculous to try to assume that because you don't like how it looks, you won't like how it plays (that's flawed, childish logic). I like how the PS2 looks but can't stand the way it plays, which is why I am a very proud owner of an XBox. I eventually bought a PS2 and a Gamecube for my kids (to keep them off the Xbox) but guess which one everyone in my house loves to play? You guessed it, the XBox. Nintendo did a great job with the gamecube, by the way! I used to be a PS fan until I noticed that MS was offering me more value for my money than PS. I'm going to assume that MS is going to continue with that trend so I'm anticipating sticking with them. Why don't you Sony "fanboys" go toot your horns on THEIR channels? If the Xbox trend continues (value, games, etc; etc;), the Xbox-360 will be a welcome addition to my home entertainment center. I don't like much of what MS does (with the pc) but I love what they are doing in the console arena.

I wish they would just design these things like standard A/V components using the standard footprint so they would integrate better and be stackable. Maybe offer them in a few different color choices so that they would blend in with you black or silver or whatever color your other components are.

Also unlike the PS2 they really haven't designed this thing to be all that attractive when standing vertically. The bottom/side looks like the bottom of something, i.e. it isn't visually pleasing to look at.

Hey if you guys wanna stick behind Nintendo go ahead. I have for the most part been a Nintendo fan until now. All im saying is that while you may like the idea of recieving first party Nintendo games, they need to step it up if they want to succeed at anything next gen (3rd party support). And whatever this Revolution is, it had better be something Revolutionary and not just some gyroscopic controller or touch screen controller. Cause if so, with all this secrecy and hype surrounding their next gen it will end up looking like a joke. A joke to Nintendo's fans and to videogame fans in general.

From a videogame standpoint Microsoft has been the most innovative force in the industry thus far. Play Xbox Live, it trumps any type of online gaming system, PC included. The use of the Xbox's harddrive, very amazing. This next Xbox is already looking great with talks of wireless this and that. Nintendo and Sony will be copying Microsofts lead in the next gen. They would be stupid not to. Sony has already added and external harddrive for the PS2. Expect a more improved Live type service out of both consoles. (And Nintendo at one point said online wasnt important, lol).

They never said online wasn't important, they simply said it wasn't ready for the market, business wise. It's kind of easy to get side-tracked, but Nintendo has been experimenting with online since the NES days. The NES actually has the ability to go online. And several, several times, Nintendo has stated that they like the idea of online, but it simply wasn't time. And you know what they're right. Only now do I feel that online is starting to come into it's own. Let's face it, Xbox Live is great, no doubt. But if you were to compare the online users with the console owners, the percentage is pretty low. Now, though, I think it's getting better. But I must definitely give Microsoft credit for doing a great job with Live, and getting the momentum started. There's no doubt, Xbox Live is the absolute best online service out of the three consoles.

I thought my ears were burning.

First a message to PrettyObvious. I'm really awesome, and I know that you are threatened by the awesome awesomeness of my awesomity, but don't you think that your energy might better served trying to become awesome yourself rather than making fun of people. The road to SetupWeasel-esque Awesomitation demands much sacrifice, but I can tell you that it is well worth it.

Now about the XBOX 360. It looks fine, but who cares. I would rather it be less curvy to fit more easliy in a entertainment center, but it's not a show stopper. With consoles I care more about the utility of the design than the appearance.

Feh... Not that exciting. Why? It's white. What else is white next to your tv? Probally nothing. And the buttons on the controller seem even less user-friendly than the current x-box controller. It seems like another case of forcing the user to conform, as opposed to the the other way around. I don't consider doughnut shaped stickers a cause for joy either.

Do agree with you though. System looks nice, but who cares about looks. Lets start seeing some official specs.

I Own an Xbox

I love nintendo's games, they are totally sweet and innovative. I really don't like the controller though, it's a total bitch to use and seems totally impractical to me. The games are really fun and innovative, but really, any game you can get on Gamecube that you can't get on other systems is a kids game. They're fun to play, but gaming is evolving and platform gaming is going out, just like adventure games are going. Nobody has any idea what Nintendo is doing with there next console so i feel putting my money on this revolution is pretty sketchy.

I don't like a lot of sony's games apart from the GTA series and GT4 looks pretty stunning but i really don't like the PS2 controller. I mean honestly for todays games i hate it, the only games i felt worked on it were GTA and Tony Hawk. The PS3 looks like its gonna be awesome, the system looks like its going to be a lot more powerful then the XBOX 360 or nintendo but if they don't change there controllers they're out of the question.

This XBOX 360 doesn't look to flash I agree. And yes its freaking huge. But honestly, i don't actually care that much. I'm more interested in the compatibility with home entertainment and its online services and above all the games it offers. XBOX Live is an amazing service. Pretty much everyone i know has it and i have never met anyone with the sony online thing or whatever its called.

Microsoft pulled a good move coming out early with their system, i know it didn't work for the dreamcast but this looks promising. They have a nice selection of games and the whole home entertainment thing looks great to, being compatible with windows and such.

Microsoft definatly knows what they're dong. They came in late last time and managed to steal a huge market share from Sony and Nintendo as well as creating some.

My opinion will most likely change after the E3 expo as we'll all be more informed about prices and what Sony and Nintendo are doing.

Right now I'm leaning towards the Xbox, although sony have the compatibility with Blu-Ray and this Cell processing, its not all about the Hardware, If sony has nice controllers i might even end up buying one, but Microsoft is coming out early and their system will probably be cheaper and by the time the PS3 is out the 360 will probably have dropped alot in price. I just can't see myself getting a Nintendo as the games as great as they are dont appeal to me.

Why do some of you get so emotionally escalated about each other's personal opinions of video games? I suppose it is more sensible than people I see arguing about the old Ford vs. Chevy battle. I like video games. Period. Whether it's Sony,Nintendo,Microsoft, if it's good, it's good.
I,my wife, and all 3 kids all play games. My kids all like Nintendo, which I haven't been a fan of since Snes, but that didn't stop me from getting them all gamecubes. Anyways, I thought this was an area to discuss personal views on the consoles, not attack each other's personal character. We are all adults here, or at least old enough to know how to use the PC, and some of you are going at each other's throats worse than the kids in my subdivision. If you all want to flame me, that's fine. I just wanted to find a site for once where people didn't attack each other because of difference in opinion. Sometimes it's funny and entertaining, but after a while, it does get old, and limits the scope of conversation. I just wanted to interject this long-winded statement to make a point, so there. Let the flames begin.

My opinion is that the 360 will put both Sony's and Nintendo's consoles to shame in the long run, and from every standpoint. First, the 360 is offered in two packages, the core package and the premium package. The core packae is for the people out there that just want the console itself for just playing games on it, and the premium package is for all the hardcore gamers that want a fully loaded xbox360, because it comes with a 20GB detachable HD, 1 wireless controller(which looks awesome, especially compared to what I've seen of the PS3's controller), an ethernet cable, a headset for live, and more! XBoX Live is looking absolutely amazing, with the new "Marketplace" feature and how the dashboard is setup for ease of use. Another cool feature with the controller for us people that are lazy is we can now shut the console off without ever leaving our coach. The big X button in the middle of the controller if pushed pauses whatever game you are playing at the moment and brings up your dashboard to listen to music, watch downloaded movies, look at pictures on the HD, and most importantly, shut the console down with the push of a button! For more on the next-gen xbox, you can go to my website at hometown.aol.com/Halo2Alero/xbox360.html
It's is still being worked on and upgraded but still has some info on the 360. And yes, i'm not a fanboy, I just think that the 360 has the most to offer all around, even though the PS3 is said to be more powerful, the graphics aren't the most important thing if you think about it!
