Black Hawk Down started out as a book based on a series of events that occurred during wartime in Somalia. That booked spawned a movie, which spawned a PC game, which is now being brought to the PS2 and Xbox. This latest version of Black Hawk Down—not quite a port—is attempting to return to its earliest roots, that is, the actual war that led to this story.
The developer, NovaLogic, claims that the game is "as accurate a retelling of the events as is possible." Army Ranger John Collett, who was there, is working as the technical adviser for the game. GameCore recently sat down with him for a no bull session.
We should also note that the Xbox version is said to support 50-player combat via Xbox Live!. Reason enough to check this one out.
