This is starting to get a little creepy, actually. Each of the console makers are so desperate to stand out that they've (in no particular order):
1) started a brilliant, but hole-y marketing campaign with an obtuse website at the core (Xbox 360)
2) been dead silent to make us wonder what the hell is going on, trusting that we trust them (PS3)
3) been talking about touching and feeling your games (Nintendo Revolution)
It's #3 that's the story of the day, apparently.
Nintendo (?) has leaked that their console offering will allow you to squeeze the controller to get results on the screen. At least, that's what CVG's read is on the accessory. Will this mean I can finally caress Zelda the way she's always wanted me to? Will Mario's plump tummy get a good socking from my firm digits? You see? Creepy. At least in my hands.
I can see the allure of a plushy stick, but let's consider that the other half of yesterday's Revolution leak is all about Internet connectivity. Yes, that Internet. Sure, it's proprietary connectivity — but it's hackable. Add one rubbery soft controller, throw in a Web and you can see where this whole reach-out-and-touch-someone thing could get out of hand.
You think this is far-fetched?
