In another great example of how we elect idiots to high office, may we present House Bill 2178, the anti-freedom bill. Why do these people hate America so much? What have the good, honest tax-paying gamers out there done to upset these Democrat and Republican bozos? Perhaps they should move to their dictatorship of choice and spare us their dimness.
2178 states the following (it's good readin'! Really!):
The legislature declares that manufacturers and retailers of these games should do their part in taking responsibility when individuals copy in real life the violence they learn from these violent video and computer games. Therefore, the legislature intends to create a private cause of action against manufacturers and retailers of violent video and computer games.
NEW SECTION. Sec. 2 A new section is added to chapter 4.24 RCW to
read as follows:
A person may maintain an action for personal injury
or wrongful death against a manufacturer or retailer of violent video or computer games if the manufacturer or retailer
has distributed, sold, or rented a violent video or computer game to a person under the age of seventeen and the game
was a factor in creating conditions that assisted or encouraged the person to cause injury or death to another
person.
In case you want names to go with the dull-eyed pics above, the sponsors are Reps. Dickerson, McCune and McDermott. Apparently, they don?t think the industry can police itself with one of the strictest ratings and ID policies in the country. They also don?t think that people should be responsible for their own actions. And lastly, they clearly don?t think. Period.
Why don?t we sue the clothes-makers for providing the kid cover for the gun he shouldn?t have in his belt? How about the car manufacturers who are co-conspirators by providing the perp with transportation to his grade school? Hell, while we?re at it, let?s make the parents liable too.
Uh?
