Nintendo DS gets more Mario, Metroid and Golf
The Nintendo DS is about to get a bunch of new titles. Fans will probably cheer Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga 2
the loudest. The sequel to the highly-acclaimed GBA game should give a lot of DS fans some ammo when their PSP rivals
come out swinging. Metroid Dread and Golf were also announced.
We'll be sure to track these guys down at E3.

HOLY QuADRUPLE POST JOYSTIQ jebus.. someone pressed submit too many times in the blog huh..

Lol never mind a panic stricken multi-posts, a poor attempt at a positive rhetoric there Ben, with all the "giving ammo to DS fans" talk.
You just don't know what to do with the blazing flame of rivalry burning inside you, do you. Even the best efforts of neutrality seem to result in an awkwardly forced out over-elaborate rhetoric, which overplays the part in the end.
Given the standard here I applaud any effort, however. I just wish you could do this without trying so hard.

Personally, I'm shocked BZ made a DS or Game Cube related post without making a lame attempt at hipness by referring to the mother ship as "the Big N"...

Quit it with all the negativity.
Good games, good blogging.
tBone @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
I didn't see anything negative in his post. There actually appears to be some attempt at balance around here the past couple of weeks.
On-topic: the DS is going to have both 2D and 3D Metroid? Saaa-wheeet!
Zeo @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
Does it suck reporting unofficial and probably fake rumors that is only "known" because of a scan from a magazine with bad grammar on the net?
VAStateOfMind @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
Dorn, I respectfully disagree. Good games? Probably. And if you're willing to suspend objectivity, then I suppose blogging on Joystiq lately could be considered okay. When I first started visiting Joystiq last year, it was one of the best places to come for news on the video game industry. But fair and balanced reporting has been comprimised lately, especially with the introduction of DS and PSP. (I'm holding out hope that turns around with E3 right around the corner.)
I don't mean to slam BZ all the time; the guy is a good writer but he is also often the Joystiq fount from whence all DS negativity springs -- he's the one implying that either the DS or PSP sides should have "ammo" or "need to come out swinging" in an invented battle. If BZ is a PSP fan, GOOD for him. As a video game journalist, however, his allegiance should NOT be apparent in his coverage of the DS. (No. 2's (James) comments stand uncorrected -- he nailed it perfectly.)
For corn sake, why can't both handhelds stand on their own? Each compete on their own merits? Why force them into a head-to-head competition all over the web? One handheld has strengths, weaknesses and features that whoops the other's butt, and the reverse is certainly true. The two do indeed compete, if only because they are handheld game machines, but the forced competition by the fanboys is tiresome at best, and downright ANNOYING at worst.
I do agree with your comments, tBone -- any additional Metroid games on DS will be welcome, though I wish they wouldn't "whore out" the franchise with a silly pinball game...

Mario And Luigi Superstar Saga 2!? Kick Ass!!
Brinstar @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
Metroid Dread. That is the must-have game for me. Now all I need is a DS...
Geez @ Dec 18th 2005 8:45PM
A 2D metroid is great news for me, it's not taking anything away from Hunters but I'd love to see Retro try a 2D Metroid and we can presume they are the team behind it.
As for Touch! Golf, anyone that's played the Mario series knows Nintendo are superb at fun sports games, but sadly using a franchise seems to be encourage unjustified flaming. Touch Golf should be a great game and it's good seeing Nintendo break away from Mario and deliver something that hopefully nobody can take a cheap shot at.

While admittedly the DS has been out for longer it also currently has far more really top-notch titles announced (Metroid Dread and Hunters, Superstar Saga 2, Castlevania DS, Advance Wars DS, etc.). I really can't think of any PSP titles that command a similar level of anticipation. The only really top title I can think of at the moment would be GTA: Liberty City Stories, but that hasn't received quite as much press yet.
It'll be really interesting to see where these two systems end up going once the games come out. The PSP definitely had a stronger slate of launch titles (with the DS still waiting for a really good game although apparently Kirby may be that game), but hasn't really delivered on much since then and even though many were strong there wasn't a really killer app among them (at least, I haven't played Lumines myself).
