Not sure who the original creator of this image is, but sometimes a little visual hyperbole captures the zeitgeist better than words. Just last week, this was the image of the moment.

Haha, hilarious pic. I admit the PS3 design is a little large but with the amount of hardware that's going to be inside I don't mind in the least. Water cooled Xbox360...hmmm, that sounds as interesting as a bad power chord. I can't wait until the customer service calls for Xbox360 flood in (pun intended).

Honestly, the size of the PS3 isn't all that big in reality. It's not like you're carrying the thing around like it's a handheld.

The grin on Kutaragi's face is priceless, especially in this photo. There's nothing like holding a little "%#@$ You" card in the MS direction.

Where are all of the PS2 fanboys who said that the Xbox was too big for the Japanese market? The PS3 is bigger. I'll be very interested in seeing the spin on this one.

I was really disappointed that the Xbox360 was so small. I am glad the PS3 will make up for it.

I'm going to have to bite my lip when I get a PS3, it really is pretty sour on the eye.

Is it fully wireless, can I shove it in a drawer so it never has to ruin my high tech entertainment setup?

Why Sony thought a tacky 80's VCR was a good design I'll never know.

The surprising news out of E3 is that Sony DID NOT blow people away with their PS3 design as everyone, including me, expected they would. Their specs are strong, but not significantly stronger than the 360, and they are delievering their product to market substantially later. Say what you want, but I think Microsoft, as much as everybody hates them, has done a slightly better job than Sony.

oi #18 if there was a MS fanboy you are it my retarded friend! listen to yourself PS3 is not just "heir specs are strong, but not significantly stronger than the 360" its twice as strong, not 15% stronger its 100% stronger to say the least. yeah it does look like a fridge because im no fanboy, but i reckon i would rather that then a water cooler, and that is a crazy photoshop job right there...who did that? award that man!

I have a slight feeling that those who dislike the design of the playstation 3 has little or no experience with modern design trends. The Xbox 360 was more toned down and common. But one thing, have anybody noticed that none of those consols looks like a plastic toy like the gamecube, nor a plastic cooling ribbon like the ps2 nor a toy-container like the xbox?

SONY saw the SUV trend in the US, so they created this huge thing to please the american market. Thats A good marketing move, if you ask me.

But what is it with all you fanboys!?! Both xbox and ps3 are excellent units. Each has its strengths and are going to be awesome. Consoles have made huge advancements to surpass their PC masters.

For one thing it won't be that size...

the second thing is that on that screenshot, the guy is well in focus with no blurs. The console then has squares on it like it had been compressed with jpeg. This shows that it has just been resized from a jpeg compressed image and saved again with this guy, probably with Photoshop and resaved in jpeg for the web...

Terrible too, they must have made that from such a small ps3 photo :p

Looks funny though, I have to admit, though it won't be half that size

i hope that next gen consoles like ps3 and xbox360 will finally have cg quality graphics. the thing i dont like about sony is that theyre too excited to show everyone what theyve got.like that killzone game,so called halo killer,it has potential but its not even close.

I think the design is good, and as usally, they put more than 1 handcontroll design out there, they will, be 3rd party hardware you know...

and for the x360, it's no match against the ps3.

Look at the hardware, let me put it this way.

Could the x360 render the getaway scene ? NO! I would like the x360 render on-the-fly the Unreal3 demo.

Sony's got a monster machine here, and I will prolly selll my PC and all my stuff, and buy me a neat HDTV + ps3, when it's out.

Hope Cell OS is unix based (: Then I just emulate (or run windows parallell) for my apps.. and I got myself a 42" monitor + supercomputer.

It all depends on the timing. The one who launches first will have an advantage. However I still favour the PS3 for the support of publishers and it is twice as powerful as the Xbox 360.

I've seen the original photo of that! Its much smaller. I'd give you a link but forgot where it is now.

As for the release dates, the XBOX 360's being released just before Christmas this year and so will have the advantage, but the PS3 is just a better console in terms of specs... Though will game developers choose this?

Yeah, I think it'd be intersting too to see the Xbox 360 running the Unreal 3 demo.

The PS3's graphics chip is equivilent to two Geforce 6800 (either GT or Ultra) together and more.
That shows it has alot of power for so much shaders and things that teh Unreal 3 engine uses.

The Xbox 360 doesn't have as good a one, but shouldn't be far worse from it, but wouldn't be cabable of as many shaders as the pS3 so it wouldn't run the Unreal 3 demo half as good.

What I didn't like though with the demo, is they should have had a frames per second counter, because there was no way of telling how good the hardware was running it, and at that resolution... so it would have been good...

I do think the PS3 is capable of CGI graphics, though even though these tests show that, it doesn't mean final games will, though the games shown if from real time sources (maybe not at the time, but might have been recorded straight from it) then of course its possible.
i wouldn't expect anything less of a new console, and i think its definetly capable of what we've seen :)

Reading everyone's comments I feel I just have to add my own. First off, the only thing Xbox ever had going for it was shooting games. Y'all are telling me ya wanna play the same old shooters w/ newer graphics for the next 5 years? Bah! The PS3 is twice the power of 360, making the 360 look like Dreamcast did way back when and what happened there, pray tell? ;D Anywho, Sony has variety in their games. It's kinda funny that everytime Microsoft is in the corner they have to remind us about Halo being the biggest video game sale or something. That would be nice if it isn't for the fact that's all they have to brag about. Microsoft is an emulator. It's a company based on taking ideas, not making 'em so tell me now how are they gonna compete being alone for launch? A sitting duck. Peace out.

the photoshop is a little too obvious in this one. but i did like the refrigerator jokes. lol. it will be bigger than the 360. oh wait. it's gonna be a little bigger than xbox. oh well. it will be getting my money.
