IGN recently caught up with Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto. The iconic developer fielded a number of questions ranging from the Revolution to the future of the DS to Mario 128 and Metroid Prime 3. You can probably predict the kind of answers the interviewers received. Yep, in typical Nintendo fashion, Miyamoto danced and he danced and he danced some more. Sigh, next year it is…

You know, after reading the interview I think I found respect for that guy. He has a view on what gaming should be and he is sticking to it.
I can't wait to see what the revolution is. In a way I think they are building the hype up too much. What can they possibly do that would be so cool?
I will definitely get a 360. I might get a revolution as a secondary system if it's cheap enough.

I think this has been pretty obvious for a while now, but it's now clear to me that Sony and Nintendo have gone down a totally different path with the next gen. They're barely playing the same ball game for a 1 to 1 comparison.

I don't know, I really had the opposite reaction to the interview. It really seemed like he has his certain vision for gaming, and even though he supposedly says that he thinks it will appeal more to the mainstream audience that Sony or Microsoft, he really doesn't give a shit if his loyal customers don't like it.
And I would be scared if I was a Nintendo fanboy right now, at his comments about developers, as sparse as they were. He mentioned that they are only working with a couple of companies on titles for their next gen, and they would certainly be happy if developers decided they wanted to work on the Revolution. It sound like he really doesn't care one way or the other. Then I guess he really doesn't care whether he gets out of a distant third place in the next round.

Was his dancing some kind of promo for the new Mario DDR? I've got to get some video of that.
(Yes. I honestly thought when skimming over this that he actually got up and danced... took me a second or two before I figured it out.)
