Intel is working on putting together packages of integrated components
in order to make more money. According to the Inquirer:
So far the branding of the product is the decidedly unsexy "Professional Business Platform", but we understand it will comprise chipset and processor with integrated graphics and sound, plus various other bits and bobs Intel makes so well.
What does this mean for games? If Intel's experiment works out for the business market, they might pursue other market segments (gaming included) with the same all-in-one-box strategy. It ain't gonna happen this round, but it's interesting to speculate whether there will even be another round of console wars after another 5 years of hardware and software evolution.
