i love nintendo but they are moving in the wrong direction. if they want to stop people from calling them a company that only makes kiddie games this is the wrong way to go.

Gotta agree with n00bfragger there, Nintendo do make some cracking equipment and some damn fine games, but this is just getting silly. The GameBoy Micro is definately the right way to go, and I did think the DS is (I still do), but this candy pink or whatever they wanna call is it making their hardware look cheap, gimicky and something that should be told alongside Tomy or Lego!

Nintendo rules, but jeez they cock up a fair few times.

More signs of the Nintendo iron bubble. Where's the special edition gold Zelda DS? Where's the metalic orange Metroid DS? They can hook in adult gamers with this but they have to use the characters and series that adults like and not pokemon (especially the pink ones. Couldn't they use a bulbasaur or something?)

I don't think a pink DS with Pokemon on it is going to hurt Nintendo. People who think Nintendo only makes kids' games have clearly already made up their minds about the company. I don't see anything really changing that, not even a DS with racing stripes and nude female silhouettes.

I also don't think Nintendo's profits make them care too much about being called a company that only makes kids' games. What better way to get lasting costumers than to reel 'em in when they're young? They had me at Donkey Kong... they had me at Donkey Kong.

If it doesn't appeal to sixteen year old (chronologically or otherwise) boys it's "kiddie"?

Talk about having things backwards...

It looks more like light purple if you click the link, I don't know what happened (photoshop?) but that's not the actual color.

I honestly don't know why everyone complains that Nintendo is a kiddy system. They're not. The system is for all ages, not just kids. The pink seems kiddy, but it's Nintendo homing in on their younger audience, which no other company seems to want to touch. With no competition for the kids, Nintendo has a small population all to itself, so why not exploit it a bit. I have seen kids in the grocery store (where I work) with GBA SP, GBA, and DS, but I have yet to see one playing a PSP. Why? Not because DS is only for kids, but because Playstation doesn't even try for the kid audience (which is probably a high percentage of gameboy sells). Sure, pink isn't for me, and probably not for many older audiences, but with the blue and the pink, many little kids are going to be happy with their colors. The adults got the silver right off the bat, and the blue isn't to bad for adults either. Sure, it's not shiny, but it still looks good to me. Adults can still enjoy Nintendo, just don't buy the kids versions! I know nobody said anything bad about Nintendo (at least not yet), but it'll come, and this is my advanced remark. Or maybe I'm just a crazy person who likes to rant about nothing. I guess I'll find out.

Pink more a girl thing than a kiddy thing - I'd bed that most 'kiddy' boys wouldn't got near it becasue of the colour, whereas my girlfriend thinks it's cute.

This is going to be released... IN JAPAN.

Maybe, just maybe there are cultural differences. Maybe more people like pink in Japan. Maybe people don't judge your masculinity by the color of a freaking game system. Maybe this is why the pink DS that is already available in Japan hasn't made it over here.

I'm constantly amazed at the effort people make to find fault with Nintendo.

Well said #4 Zell, they had me at Donkey Kong too ....

And yes this is not the Candy Pink system, that came out with Nintendogs in Japan, and as a side note that week the DS outsold the PSP by 3:1 and continued to this day to beat the PSP in Hardware sales.

And Nintendogs also mopped up in the charts joining Fire Emblem (GC), Rockman (megaman, GBA) and Naruto 3 (DS) in near complete chat domination.

Geez, stop getting your panties in a bunch. Did it ever occur to some folks that some girls would love a DS that's pink...that it's a fashion accesory like a cell phone? That some people in Japan bought it just for Nintendogs, and that this is just for them?

It's a limited edition unit, the picture here was doctored to look much brighter than it will be, and it's all pretty silly to get worked up over.

I am a Female, soon to be 23. I am going to buy the Pink Nintendo DS for my birthday. I think it is TOO CUTE! I was originally going to buy the Game Boy Advance SP, , because I liked the small size of it, (my niece left her's at my house and I played it until the battery went dead, and then I knew I had to have one). I changed my mind when I found out that Nintendo was coming out with Nintendogs for only the DS version. Personally I think that the girls no matter what there age would like the Pink one. Look at Society, you have Paris Hilton and her dog Tinkerbell all dressed up in Girlie Pink and other cute girl colors, along with the movie Legally Blonde, in which all she wore was PINK. Girls like to feel pretty. Me personally, I would like it if they came out with like a Pal Lime Green. I have recently learned that Australia will be getting the Pink Nintendo DS's along with the Teal Blue colored one on Sept 22nd. I will probably wait to buy mine from there instead of Japan. I wonder if the Adapter will work in the USA house hold plugs? Well that's my Opinion. Thanks for listening. ~ Nina ~
