Tomb Raider Legend destined for Xbox 360?
According to the latest issue of EGM, Tomb
Raider: Legend may make its debut on the Xbox 360. Legend was previewed behind closed doors at E3 this year and boasted
a higher polygon count than the last time out. With Toby Garb back at the helm, the game promises to return the
franchise to its beloved "tomb raiding" roots, albeit with a new control system. We'll keep you posted.

Lara Croft. I want to touch those polygons.

Holy crap people. It's been known it will be on 360 for about two months, or however long the game has been announced.

Dude... It's a video game, take it easy...

I understand that back in the dark days of gaming, circa 1997, Lara Croft and her over-sized mammaries were quite the draw card for the majority of gamers (mostly 15-20 year old males without girlfriends), but after Tomb Raider : Angle of Darkness and the release of two movies best described as torturous, one is left wondering; why is Eidos intent on flogging this bitch?
I wrote a bit about this here:

The mario franchise still goes on stronge even after an appauling movie.. the same could be said about street fighter. So comparing movie spin offs to the original games is unfounded.
Yorrike @ Dec 18th 2005 9:59PM
True as that may be, there were no sequels to either the Mario or Street Fighter movies (despite leaving the end of the Mario movie, shall we say, wide open?).
Eidos could do better. They're simply relying on tits to sell sub-par games and movie tickets. As far as I'm concerned, the Tomb Raider franchise is dead, and I believe Eidos would do better creating a new franchise rather than producing more sequels. It's the constant roll out of non-innovative, established franchise games that's spoiling an industry that should be overflowing with new ideas and stories.
Both the Mario and Street Fighter franchises have seen innovations through their sequels over the past 10 years whereas Tomb Raider is like another Madden. Why should anyone care?

Why should anyone care, Yorrike? Well there's this thing called brand equity. People have good memories of the older TR games. A lot of people have an emotional attachment to the franchise because the early games were really fun.
I'm looking forward to the new TR game, if it's more like the first two games. I remember staying up way too late very often just... trying to finish... this... next... level!
Saying the TR series has had fewer innovations over Street Fighter would be more fair if TR had come out earlier, as a side scroller on Sega Genesis or something.
Anyway, any hardcore TR fan knows that Lara's tits are mainly used to get the game purchased. It's staring at that ass for hours at a time that keeps us playing. ;-)

Hahahahahaha...

Tomb Raider, Mario, and Street Fighter: All games which deserved good movies and could have been given great movies had someone bothered to try. Fortunately gamers know better than to equate games with their failed movies and vice versa.
That said, the Street Fighter anime was okay. At least it was pretty.

The first two Tomb Raiders were good games.... Now the series is total shit, no one cares about laura croft...X-box 360 will have a lot better games for it then a sorry ass tomb raider game.

So Yorrike, you claim to be following innovation in franchises but you criticize Madden? I don't play many sports games myself but Madden has had as much innovation as other game genres (adding online, for instance, a drastic change for the franchise) and just because you don't follow it closely enough to notice fineries like the players and teams changing every year (something important to Madden players) doesn't mean it ain't happening. New play-calling techniques, views, rule changes, moves...
In fact, Madden and sports games are in the shaky situation of having to innovate every year to bring something new enough to make people want to buy it again in one year, year after year.
'Madden' should be used in your critical eye as an example of 'How to bring people back,' rather than a throwaway (uninformed) example of STALE.
'Hardcore gamer?' Only in certain genres, we surmise.
But I did read your piece, interesting pitch for a game character... you can find a lot of those attributes in Beyond Good and Evil for the Gamecube.

I think that we all should give TR Legend a chance. From what I've seen, it looks promising, but so did AOD when it first came out. :)

Acccording to someone's comment on this game, it's played by 15-20 year old males, wanting to look at her boobs. Well, I'm a 16 year old girl and I'm straight, but I love the game. It has nothing to do with her boobs. When I was around 6-7 years old I would watch my cousins play it and always found it interesting. The movies are crap, I didn't even finish watching the first one. I saw one part and thought it was bad. I guess some people do play it for her boobs. I passed it and my 12 year-old neighbors were over, gaping at her boobs, but that's them. Not everyone plays it for that. Just about every video game now-days feature girls with large chests, but that's the way the world is. I can care less about that stuff.
