Slim PlayStation 2 goes white

It's only for the Japanese market—at least for now—but Sony's busted out a "Ceramic White" version of their new slim PlayStation 2. Exactly the same as the original black version, only now it stands a decent chance of not clashing with that slim PS2 Game Cradle you probably weren't going to buy.

Not new. I saw this exact thing (silver slim PS2) at London Heathrow airport a couple of weeks ago. So it must have been out for a while.

Perfect to match my new Xbox 360 next year. I'm still holding out for the PS2 price to hit the floor. All I need one for are the Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper, and Katamari Damacy franchises...oh, God of War too (gotta support my friends).

Yeah I was reading a magazine which I shall not name which was reviewing a gadget and it refered to the colour as 'i-pod' white! What is going to be the next 'buzz' colour. Any bets on pink? :-S

Well, you all have to remember that they released all sorts of different colours for the LARGE PS2, including white and silver (and yellow, and red, and gold, and blue, and...). No surprise that they're doing the same thing with the SLIM model.

the saying that companies are copying apple because its white is BS, white is just a nice clean color, and its popular amoung consumer electronics, their are tons of electronics that are white, and even if they WERE copying apple, so what? its buisness, if they can make something white, make more money, and get away with it, what do they care

P.S. i dont beleive apple came out with the PS2, PStwo, slim things in general, or white, so tell me again how this is an apple clone?

Difference between bashing the Xbox 360 being white and bashing this PStwo for being white is that you still have the option of buying a black or silver PStwo. In fact, weren't there 3 PS3s shown? White, black, and silver? The problem is that Xbox 360 only offers white. The only aspect of the console you can change is the faceplate. For some, that might be enough, for others, it isn't.

How is this copying Apple? Morons. Sony is being smart and offering different colors for its slim pS2. Btw, Sony previously released its PSone in white so I wouldn't really say Sony copied Apple. Don't be stupid, white is a generic color and not owned by Apple.

Sony needs to release this white pstwo over here soon and also drop the system's price, preferably to $99 although $129 would still work...then they'd almost certainly have no trouble moving another few million copies...people like white stuff right now, why shouldn't Sony get a little mileage out of the iPod-look craze?

What's the betting they've added more subtle hardware bugs to prevent non-Sony accessories working with this one?
They did it when the chunky silver PS2 came out, the black slimline too.

Or - if we're lucky - they'll have upgraded the vibration power output so that it doesn't fail after 3 months on 50% of the units.
