This movie is going to flop. 75 million is not even going to cut it. Can’t Microsoft do the movie on there own?

Hey, I liked 28 days later! I though it was a great film. In my mind the first 20 mins of the movie explains how Master Chief was created and how the other Spartans were destroyed. I doubt they are going to explain the life of the man behind the mask (John I think his name is). I also think most of the movie will be action packed and have an open ending. The open ending would either be leading to the next game or the next movie. the real question is who should play Cortana? for some odd feeling I think it should be Halle Berry they both have a similar look.

I can think of a ton of games I'd rather see a movie for than Halo. Half-Life hands down has a better story.

Screw that, FF7 would make a better movie(if it was in real life, not that CG shit).

The problem I see with Microsoft doing a movie:

-projector read errors
-someone slipping in Raffi as an alternate soundtrack
-the occasional all blue screen
-the same story as somthing that Apple made, only in different colors

I see they left out the part where they want the movie started by at least september so it will have a 2006 release to match halo 3 and PS3 lauch...Love the game, but why spend 75 million plus marketing on a RUSHED movie likly to be a money loser for the studios......

who give's a shit about how good the movie is and how much money it will make?

I'm a Halo fan, if it's good, I'll watch it. If not, I don't care for M$ to lose 75 M$ ;-)

But I agree with #5 FFVII with real characters would be thunderous!

You couldn't make a movie of FF7... It's 40+ hours of gameplay. Cutting it down to 2 hours(or even 3 and a half hours) wouldn't nearly do it justice. I mean, you could practically do a movie that just leads to the point where you leave Midgar and still have to leave parts out.

An anime would work, since you could do two season that span about 20 hours. That *MIGHT* be possible(if S-E didn't make horrible Final Fantasy animes). No CGI though? how the hell would you make Red XIII, any of the summons, monsters, or fights for that matter? You DO realize that magic doesn't exist and sephiroth flies, goes through floors, so on and so forth? Let's not forget how awesome Cait Sith would look with a live action counterpart.

C'mon people, use your heads. Live action is too limited to warrant a Final Fantasy release.

Microsoft got played by CAA on this one. No studio in town would pay Garland $1million to write a script of this ilk. And, those asks are incredibly hubristic, esp. when the track record of games to movies is abysmal as it is. Script is reportedly long, densely written and not being well-received by studio development monkeys.

Thanks jimbojones, for the single intelligent post on this subject. But who can blame MS for not wanting to relinguish control of their baby to the very development monkeys who fuck up all those game adaptations? You sound like you might've dealt with some of them. I have, as well. They're mostly idiots. They make stupid changes to good material that stifles creativity. I know a few authors who curse the day they sold movie rights to their novels, and watched studios totally fuck them up the adaptation. Consensus management kills these projects. It just sucks the life out of them. Have you read Garland's HALO script? I never trust "reportedly" until I've read it for myself.

I know she had a different part in the game but I could so see Michelle Rodriguez as Cortana and Russell Crowe as John/Masterchief.

Alex Garland's actually written a couple of pieces for gaming press and he's allegedly an avid gamer. Nice to see someone who likes games tackle a script.

The Halo movie, I think, will be about the creation, training and destruction of the Spartans. Also about the fall of the planet Reach(where the spartans were trained and died. If you want to know that whole story... read the novel Fall of Reach, is exactly what happened before Halo 1.

I would like to see whoever did the voice of cortana, play her. I think it would not really matter who played master chief, as you could just add the voice in later. as long as he was extremely tall, and was athletic

i think that it would be a good idea to make a movie on what happened before they reached HALO (the ring planet)... Posted Jun 10, 2005, 10:53 AM ET by Donut

i would like to see it done in CG and have all the voices from the game put into the movie...because you know that we are not going to see the faces of the spartans
