Yes folks, it's time to bust out this old chestnut again! Gamers with XX chromosomes. It's
still
hilarious how the software industry seems to
believe that games for younger girls seem to require nothing more than a pink box and a Barbie license, or possibly the
Olsen sucubi. Oh, and a shopping theme. Or horses. Every girl loves horses!
Women want the same games men do. They want good games with good characters. It's as simple as that. The article
mostly steers clear of the usual gender argument, that being female characters that could be used as a flotation device
in the event of a water landing.
The whole piece ties in nicely with the story from earlier this week about the industry lacking innovation. Perhaps
another video game crash is required as an industry reset button, since lord knows the suits in charge currently don't
seem to get it.
