2nd WipEout Pure Gamma Pack out today

You've got to be pretty impressed with Sony's commitment to release new content for WipEout Pure. Admittedly, the original package was a bit light on content, but quality alone ranks Pure in the "must have" PSP category. Today, the second Gamma Pack of extra content with be released for download and contains two new tracks, Extostra Run & Ubermall, and two new skins, Qirex & Auricom. Gamma Pack 1 has also been re-formatted and must be downloaded again. Enjoy.

Anyone know if this forces an update to 1.52?

Studio Liverpool has stated that none of the Wipeout Pure downloads are intended to patch the game, only to provide extra content. It's unlikely they even have this capability. So no, it's extremely unlikely Wipeout Pure will ever force a firmware upgrade.

I'm surprised Joystiq hasn't reported on the direct loader (no swapping req'd) for homebrew on 1.50 that was released today.

Joystiq is usually a bit behind. And they usually only write about stuff people send them.

Eitherway, the wipeout gamma pack 2 isn't out just yet. Maybe later on tonight, but I've been checking all day via the website and the ingame downloader, and it's not listed either way yet.

I'm excited, two new levels + 2 skins. Nice and yum filled.

uhh...dang. I really need to plop down the money for a bigger memory stick, mine's already full of ROMs from the 1.5 exploit released today.

I have been waiting all day for this. I have bought several games so far (Tony Hawk, Ridge Racer, Lumines, Twisted Metal) and I have to say, I think Wipeout Pure is my favorite, its just a great game. I tried to keep myself busy with ROM's from todays new firmware hack, but the SNES games run way to slow for enjoyment sometimes. Hopefully someone makes a good emulator for GBA and SNES.

No, you don't need 1.52 or 1.51 firmware upgrades to play them. Just two fun tracks, one skin for boys, one for girls. Gotta love it, the Qirex skin is the deep pink/magenta tone. Nothing queer about Qirex being pink I guess.
