Bungie has released the new Halo 2 maps as promised today,
July 5th. Purely in the name of investigative journalism I have downloaded the new maps (all five of them) and given
each a good test run. Included in the pack are: Relic, Gemini, Elongation, Backwash (eww) and Terminal. The maps can be
downloaded by all Xbox Live! users at a cost of $11.99 (or £5.99 for Brits). Or if you can wait until August 30th, you
can get all five for free. Alternatively you can go to your local games retailer and pick up the $19.99 expansion pack
which includes all nine new multiplayer maps, a special cinematic, behind-the-scenes documentary and all prior Halo 2
auto updates.
So far, my favorite is Relic. Its massively open spaces are quite deceiving in that the flag bases are so near each
other in terms of walking distance. Once the enemy has the flag, its very hard to stop them from capturing. Mind you,
this was only a 2 v 2 game with a couple of mates and an 8 v 8 game would be completely different experience. Anyone
else got the maps yet?
