SEGA recently announced a partnership with
Secret Level (creators of the Unreal Engine for PS2 and GameCube) to recreate a classic SEGA franchise for the Xbox 360
and PS3. Team Xbox has offered up their two
cents—or perhaps just a little wishful thinking—naming Virtua Cop as the classic franchise to be revived. Let the
random speculation begin!
[Thanks, Reeve ...how 'bout you drop us a hint?]

Why revived? It isn't like there has been a huge gap between Virtua Cop 3 and now, and the Xbox version has been rumored to be a 2005 release since...2003.
The genre has worn thin, though. That the most significant advance in game mechanics for the genre was Time Crisis, a ten year old game, shows how stagnant it has become.
Come on! If we are going to randomly speculate, let it be interesting! Maybe something a bit more obscure or lacking any recent entries. I'll throw a couple of chips into the direction of Burning Ranger for the former. As for the later, I'd guess Daytona USA, since its arch-rival Ridge Racer has been getting quite a bit of success recently.

I wonder how they're going to implement guncon support. I mean, maybe I've been out of the loop for too long, but when I bought Time Crisis: Crisis Zone a couple of months ago, the only TV in the house(LCD, WEGA CRT) it worked on was the 14" $99 Citizen we picked up at a Shopper's Drug Mart, which is just sad.
