Somehow I can't see myself paying $40 for a glorified version of Space Invaders—but stranger things have happened. Welcome to 2005, where alien invaders are no longer giant pixilated amoebas (at least in the game's main mode-of-play). Most intriguing however, is a retro two-player (single-PSP) mode, wherein you turn the unit 90 degrees and each player grabs an end—harkening back to the old sit-down arcade setup. As for the primary mode (now in 3D first-person), Space Invaders: Galaxy Beat, encourages players to fire their lasers in tune to the beat of the background music. But the formula hasn't changed much, as the invaders still advance in layered rows as you blast away, ducking and dodging their attacks behind destructible barriers.
