Wow, it looks amazing. I would get a black xbox360 over the white one anyday. I also hope the "xbox 360" on the side of the white and (if there is) black system have green LEDs.

Man, I think that looks so much sexier than the white one... Dang it, that'll tick me off if they offer it later, after I already own one. Microsoft, if you're reading this, PLEASE MAKE BLACK AN OPTION AT LAUNCH!!!

"looks like a redesigned ps2"

How does that look like the ps2 in any way other than the color black? (incidentally, the original xbox was also black... and so is my car, for that matter, so maybe microsoft copied toyota...) The ps2 is squarish and has a bunch of ridges all over it while this is smooth with no ridges

But anyway, I actually think it looks really cool and if I had a choice between this and the white one, I'd probably pick this one. (Although it would be close and I'd have to see them in person first)

Well the system looks crap in white, sterile and cheesy, kinda like the Blake 7 esque set of alleged future kit.

A Graphite version may actually make me want to display this system next to my modern equipment.. emphasis on maybe, actually it'll probably still be tucked away from sight.

Look at the boring and dusty photo of the black 'developer' Xbox360 that popped up late last week - you'll have a pretty good idea of what a black Xbox 360 will look like in your house. It's pretty ugly really - maybe if it was actually painted black, rather than the black-plastic in that photo - a high-gloss or slight metallic black could help.

Bleh. Could be cool, but I'm leaning towards the white one, but overall, I don't like the 'vertical-or-horizontal' design - wishy-washy, and gives me the same bad feeling a vertical PS2 gives me - awkward vertical disk syndrome.

Nope ... it was dark green. Same with the controllers and all the official accesories.

Take it outside on a bright ass sunny day and put it in the sun and you tell me it's not dark green.

Actually, it doesn't matter what you can "see" since I know for a fact that it's dark green... ask 3M

My xbox is hidden away, as it is SO ugly, and in the dark recesses it appears BLACK. We know and acknowledge that the color is a green-based black, but it is still a BLACK for all intents and purposes.

If we are splitting such hairs, the 360 is not 'WHITE' but rather a combination of pearl-white, warm grey, and chrome, but we are still calling it WHITE.

Check out my website for fanmade 360 colors and faceplates.

Hey, you know what I like, spray paint... spray paint is cool. Oh, and vinyls are cool too. I also like sharpies.

Why does everyone make a big deal about color anyway? It's going to sit in an AV rack in the back of my room with all my other AV stuff.. it just needs to play awesome games.

Maybe the "black" version could be the one given out during the Pepsi/Mountain Dew Xbox360 promotion. And yes, it does look better than the "white" version.

If they go with black as an option, i hope they change the silver bit on the front. A cool material to make it out of would be like a black chrome, its the metal my glasses' frames are made of, its black, but it looks like chrome when it catches the light, and it looks really sharp, definetly better than the silver with the black (dark green)

God, this isnt real at all. I saw the thread that the guy made over at TeamXbox stating that he had just whipped this up to see what it would look like, right when it was made. Nothing special here, move along.

That being said, I do wish this was an option at launch. I like black electronics more than white ones.

Where's the link to some sort of crediable resource?

If you brighten this image in Photoshop, it looks to me like this is the same white console we've seen all along. Probably some fancy lighting, or Photoshop effects or both.

I am a graphic designer. I do color changes on vehicle images for a living just about everyday. This is indeed what is known as a color change. Very obvious to the trained eye. Simply a White Xbox 360 and controller with the white parts masked in photoshop and the color changed. A very good job I might add, but still noticable.

I hope they release black as well but this isn't proof of it at all.

If you want a black/dark green system with green LEDs then buy an original Xbox. This won't be a launch feature b/c they have nothing to combat the release of PS3 and Revolution. Trust me you'll see this in "limited edition" along with a price drop in original white just before ps3 and Rev. roll out. And if the MTV special was any indication of the machines capabilities they are going to need every bit of advantage they can get.

i agree with the fact that this is more of a green than a black, although i WOULD like to see a black 360, just to have an idea of what it would be like in other colors. (hell, maybe it'll even take the path the DS did and release more colors later in production with some upgraded firmware, etc.)

I'm glad all of you are arguing that it's not real, when the article already stated that: "black Xbox 360 renders". Good job!

I don't doubt they will do this, since they are all into the customization with the faceplates, but MS wouldn't release official images if they weren't planning on launching the different colors.

Anyway, I could tell right off the bat it was fake. Kudos to the person who did it though. It's a really good looking fake.

ok, my 2 cents..

to me, when the next version of a console comes out, i want a change. i want a new and fresh experience entirely.

i already feel like the Xbox 360 graphics aren't quite advanced enough to be next gen, ad seeing what a black one would look like reminds me way to much of the original. the reason i kind of like the white is because it makses me feel like i'm in for something new, not just more of the old but a little prettier.

Im shur microsoft will be done wit the beta kits and the final hardware and wat matters most is that it plays good. Tho it HAS GOT to come out in black. Dont u guys think?

i cannot believe u guys are arguing over what the default color for xbox was, who cares!? i just wanna say that every game console would look better if it was not white, just think about it, if u buy a white xbox360 and took a picture of it, u will see that many years from now, it would not be as white, get me? it does in fact get cheesy eventually, or if not, a stale color, depends on the environment its in, and then it becomes an ugly color for good.

when i first saw the pic of xbox360, immediately i thought of getting a black one, because it would stay black. i dont think anyone cares much whether its white, warm grey, etc. it looks BAD, and that means it aint going to attract people to it and its gonna make people like me wait until they're smart enough to start making different colors. i think it is best if they would make those semi-transparent ones, u know like the blue, green, and red, that would be sweet. i just hope its right that a black one would be soon to come out. good thing i was patient. not to mention that some of the first xbox360s made were defected
