as I have mentioned in the other thread, and as gaijin has mentioned, the problem with xbox, is none of its game is appealing to japanese, or asian to that matter. the feel is different, and that is why people stick to ps2. this is not about anti americanism or something like that. what microsoft need to do is to get some support from japanese top developers and to get some exclusive x360 only game from them, the like of banpresto, konami will help a lot.

Sin ViCiOuS and benhc911 - calm down!

Sin: the US takes an insane percentage of Canadian lumber profits and simply hands it over to US lumber companies - free money, oh joy. The fact is, we have lots of lumber in Canada and don't appreciate being bullied into getting ripped off. We are free to allocate our resources how we choose, and having the US government attempt to dictate how our country works is very unreasonable to say the least.

There are many other points I could bring up regarding Bush and Iraq, but I'll save this gaming website from it all.
---------------------------------------------
Point is you cannot enter an agreement and choose what part or trade rules you will keep or not. If they agreed not to dump. I didnt hear Canada come to US defense when we were selling steel at lower prices, but the WTO put pressure, along with guess it! Thats right Canada! So consistency is all i am asking for.

Now for those who keep sighting IPOD and starbucks.. has anyone thought about the fact that these are different markets..

#1. The Japanese dont do coffee they do tea! So it took an American company to show them how its done!
#2. The Japs are not inot Hard Drive mp3 players, they are into flash driven small (very small)players. So Ipod came in and if storage capacity is what you want then.. you get an IPOD!

The Japs know games. Do Games.. and do it well! The market caters to a different type of people that is specific! And these people are very closed minded in terms of publishers and platforms. ..the same can be said about Coke and frito lay.. they dont do Soda or chips so they can give a rats ass in competing they will just use our stuff. I think what MS needs to do is buy some of these gaming studios and rebrand themselves as a Jap gaming company with American ties. Then maybe .. MS will penetrate better.. I hope so because i for one will stay with x360!

And again...

"The Japanese don't do coffee, they do tea"

Yeah, and they all wear kimonos and study Karate too. Coffee is the common drink of choice in Japan. Hot coffe outsells hot tea here and cold coffee and cold tea are nearly tied. And there are tons of Coffee shops here. And majot coffee house chains Key, Boss, kohican etc. There were here long before Starbucks came.

Sony and other companies did HD MP3 players before Apple. And yeah Japan liked flash players more, but guess what? The IPod shuffle is the number one FLASH player in Japan now.

Suntory does a wide variety of Sodas and their own cola. So does Asahi and Kirin. I think they care to compete with Coke.

Calbee and Julico did chips long before frito-lay came into Japan.

Japanese people will choose the best product that meets their desires. If Xbox met them, they would have bought it. If xbox 360 meets them they WILL buy it.

There is no racial profiling of consol systems.

Please stop with these blanket statements and if possible try to refrain from calling them "Japs". I am sure you meant no offence by it, but it is a racial slur.

Japan or Nippon (as they refer to themselves) can be shortened much as other countries are without it being a "racial slur". Brits are from Britian. Brits refer to American Yankees as Yanks. I think it's just a way to shorten things to one syllable. To some, having your country shortened is seen as a epithet. It's all in the eye of the beholder, but the way I see it, if you use these shortened names, you better be willing to not get offended when it is applied to you. I think that Japs (or Nips), Brits and Yanks should all learn to get along without holding onto WWII animosity. Same goes for the Gerrys and the Ruskies. Hell, here in SoCal, people think "Mexican" is a race instead of a nationality and only say it in hushed tones like they are saying something forbidden. It's a joke. If people who come from Mexico aren't Mexicans, then what the hell are they? "Latino" or "Latin American" could refer to someone from any damn country south of the border for Christ sakes! I miss many things from the Clinton era, but I sure has hell don't miss the overwhelming blanket of "Political Correctness" that his era smothered us with for 8 years.

Sin Vicious, you are so poorly informed it's sad. Do your research, I doubt you would feel that way about Bush - while you like to mention that he is signing 'historic' help accord for Africa (and Africa does need it, no doubt there) he has also:

1. raised the national debt to a 'historic' record high
2. announced tax cuts while we are in a very expensive war, first president to ever do this (and in turn, see the first point)
3. turned back several enviromental laws that really had no reason to be touched, other than to help out major industry (oil and lumber)that supports him with campaign contributions.
4. Has done very little for education other than make up some 'points of light/no child behind' rhetoric that he does not live up to

This is not a president for the people. You can act like moving on Iraq is justified because of raping women, dogs, whatever - there were several other countries that were doing this before and still are. But no invasions there. Ask yourself why. Question people like Karl Rove and Dick Cheney.

(Here's an answer, who knows if it's true: By making Iraq 'friendly' to the U.S., it will allow the planned oil pipeline coming down through Afghanistan to continue on through Iraq and lessen our dependency on OPEC. But I can tell by your political 'writing' that you probably don't even know what the hell I'm talking about)

It is not liberal or tree-huggery, it's simply your duty as an American - learn how our government is acting.

Believe when I tell you I am a voting, tax-paying American that loves this country, and that's why Bush and his father, and all of their big-corporate dique-sucking bothers me soooo much.

One more little nugget to digest, non-liberal and pre-9/11, about Bush giving money to the Taliban in May 2001, supporting a government that behaves a bit like the Iraq YOU describe Sin Vicious:

By bore with war : R U SERIOUS!!!

1. Defecit: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,162398,00.html. Passing tax relief was the right thing to do if youknow anything about economics you know you fatten a cow by feeding it not starving it. Giving money in the form of a tax break allows everyday people like you and me to buy oh yeah an xbox 360 .. which employs people .. and every economist inlcuding mr. greenspan (Clinton economist friendly) agrees. Get your facts straight.

2. Environmental laws that made business sense. Im sorry.. sure lets agree to standards an on a international level that no other country is abiding by.. as to increase our cost and do damage to our companies that employe Americans. These are the real reasons they are leaving to other countries to do business. No reason? I think jobs leaving are a major reason.

3.No child left behind.. do you even know how this works? I know becuase my sister is a teacher.. No child left behind is a federal standard but is funded through the states. More money has gone into the public education from this President then any other in history including clinton. But it is up to the states to quanitfy what they need and explain why they need it, and ask! By the way if the Voucher program wa snot removed washington would have been involved in giving money back to the people but you can thank your John Kerrys and Kennedys for not having vouchers.

As for all of your oil theories i suggest you stop watching faren.9-11 and read the facts get both sides of the facts :
http://www.davekopel.com/Terror/Fiftysix-Deceits-in-Fahrenheit-911.htm

no one gave money to the taliban, a corpration did.. (to an afghan company) that was later sold to another group of investors then father bush was asked to sit on the board several years later. Of which ex Democratic Senators sat on the board also...

#49- When did a nationality become a race? Because you're a complete idiot, your entire diatribe has become null and void.

#46- Sure, but GTA 3...Key on the 3 part, is not the same as the 10th or more, like mario, castlevania, just about all of the Japanese battlesims aka "RPG's", or Metalgear, which actually has what, like 5 or 6 sequels? Dang.

#48- if M$ wants to "penetrate" as you say, Sony's base in Japan then they'll need to stop putting out more interesting games than what's currently on the PS2. I'm not sure how many times we can play "Super Holly Hobby Happy Fun Time Squish Fishing 14", or "Love Rocket Schoolgirl fun 4", but damn. Further, yes, I enjoy PLAYING a game, not watching a movie. I remember being in Japan in the late 80s and early 90s- They hate our computer games. If it's not a love sim or a combat game (because japanese culture literally revolves around conflict), they don't want it. FPS? Naaa. Strategy western style? Naaaa.

What's interesting is just how blinded Westerners are to what an RPG is, considering we invented the damn genre! RPG is not Zelda, is not Final Fantasy, is not Star Ocean. An RPG is Morrowind, or Ultima, or the Dungeon Master series. Japanese "RPG"'s are tactical wargames with childish dialog. I always find it amusing that a future society, with great world-spanning technologies, can't seem to communicate with more than a 10 yr olds dialog or thought process. And of course, they're always someone with Spikey hair- that means they're wild! Woo.

I'll agree that there are more than a few good Japanese games, but we rarely get them over here in America. Japan seems to take great pleasure in giving us garbage at top $$. People eat it up. On a side note- just like the shift from superb anime in the 80s, to rough-hewn crap in the 90s. Once quality sold, but then they figured out we'd buy anything.

And on other points mentioned here.

*7-Eleven was bought out in the 90s. I have no idea if it is still Japanese controlled.

*If Canada has an actual legitimate complaint against the U.S. tariff, then they can take it to the WTO. That's what the WTO is for. Unfortunately, too many uninformed idiots would rather use the "anti-globilization" argument to justify rioting and looting cities when certain conferences are held there. This animosity that some Canadians have for the U.S. is as stupid as the French hate of our country. You Canadians wouldn't even have an independent country today had the U.S. actually lived up to its Treaty of Paris obligations and paid off the descendents of the Loyalists who had their property seized after the Revolution and fled to Canada.

*The war in Iraq was justified even back to 1994ish when Saddam tried to assassinate former President Bush. Unfortunately, spineless Clinton was in office and his response was to send cruise missiles to an Iraqi Republican Guard building at 3am when nobody was there. Saddam spent the past decade failing to live up to the peace terms that ended the first Persian Gulf War and apparently played a shell-game with the security council bluffing that he had WMD when apparently he did not. Whatever he was thinking, it wasn't logical. And our Canadian cousins wussed out on any action, and joined the hate-America brigade led by the French for that action while our other good cousins, the British and the Australians, joined up.

*Bush reactivated Project Prometheus (sic) which is trying to build a nuclear powered engine solution to get our astronauts to Mars. The project first began life under the first Bush Administration, and unfortunately (but typical of the Clinton Administration) was one of the first programs Clinton cut when he took over after only winning 42% of the vote in 1992.

Bush does anger me when he does stuff like settle the antitrust case Justice had won against Microsoft, but you can't knock him for not supporting the Kyoto Treaty since Clinton didn't really support it, and all but two members of the Senate - including Kerry before he later decided to claim that he supported it when he figured he could use such an issue to criticize Bush. Kinda like "I supported it before I voted against it" nonsense typical of the man who got worse grades in college than even Bush.

But I won't go any further with this rant...

I agree with you "The Jeremy."

Liberals always fascinate me, they use world class projectionism (that is, they use their own faults and project them onto their opponenets and then criticize them.)

Case in point, France & Other countries were in bed with Iraqi Oil because of the UN Oil for Food scandal.

Bush goes against the Hussein regime and liberals squak...OIL...OIL...OIL, BUSH DID IT FOR OIL!!!!!

In that case, why didn't Bush invade Venezuela...it produces more oil than Iraq?

Liberals, they look so cute with their tinfoil hats.

first off - i would like to note if no one else has already - that this article is absolute bullshit.... Did the writer even try to get facts straight? 500,000 xbox units sold to date? thats really funny.... if i was going to to make up numbers - i'de at least say 1,800,000. But even that number is false. Xbox Live users just reached 2 million last week. The total units of xbox ould would ahve to be around 10-20 million... not 500,000.... and i'll take into consideration that maybe the writer failed to properly specify it was the Japan market being noted.... but even then - its not 500,000.... its 5,000,000. Get facts straight if you want to publish mere bullshit like this.

Man is that the truth. As an American, the thing I love about being an American is that I have the freedom to hate most other Americans and the garbage they stand for. Most Americans are so far removed from living by the original morals and ideals instantiated by the founders of our country that they almost always misinterpret or just plain don't know what they even are. Most times they just sound like uneducated, arrogant hypocrits. Maybe if most Americans got off their sheltered, half-witted asses and traveled elsewhere about this earth, they would realize how close-minded and stupid they really are--and certainly how shallow they are. It IS quite a humbling experience.

That's why it's sooo easy to hate people that suck Microsoft's figurative dick. It's not even about siding with any of the other companies out there (regardless that they are not American, but rather, Japanese). It's not even about how good the American products are, materially. I think the Japanese, as well as many other cultures, have a much harder time embracing American products because the current ideals, morals, and culture behind them. Most American are too fucking stupid to see this.

Thank you and have a pleasant evening.

Haha this guy so has it right. Im an american, but i hate the xbox360 with a passion. Does that make me less of an american? No, or else that would go against the amendments. The deal with MS is that they are a greedy selfish money sucking self centered arrogant piece of shiet, J Allard wants to control everything from your desktops, laptops, to your tv and how you live your life. The 360 has a camera in it, since it also functions as a tivo box. SO J allard will be watching your every move, watching how you live your life, so he can build something MS made to cater to it.

My problem with MS is, there is no rivaling OS, Mac is pathetic dont even call it a rival. They thrive in taht business, so why are they going after games? cuz they are greedy. MS will never outsell sony in japan, because of the likes of the thick headed americans that posted in this place with responses such as "AMERICA FUCKING RULE" and "HATING THE XBOX IS UN-AMERICAN". Yes ppl im american, and i hate the xbox. I like sony cuz they have a library of games that dominate the xbox. So i already casted my lot with sony. I trust that they wont dissapoint with the ps3. Im even gonna buy a revolution. Cuz the revolution has games that sony doesnt have..xbox games are basically all on the ps3, so why get an xbox..just for the few games that arnt on sony? what a waste of 400 bucks..or 300 or whatever. Gates and allard can burn in hell for their greediness.

To say that the Japanese only stay loyal to their own is a Microsoft cop-out! I lived in Japan for many years and the Japanese love American culture to the point where they would buy a pair of American designer shoes for 2000$! The reason why the Japanese are not going to buy up the X-FLOP 360 is because they know quality electronics when they see it! Its like buying an American car I mean why would you if you know its gonna crap out on you in a year. And the X-BOX 360 graphics are just like the original X-BOX! Its poor engineering with poor graphics for a next gen gaming system, actually some dreamcast games look better then 360 games.
