UK game auction site clamps down on piracy
A relatively new UK game auction site, videogameauctions.co.uk (nice name), is clamping down on pirate game auctions with the help of the ELSPA. Since the site launched there's been around 1300 auctions placed on the site, with a large amount of pirated games being mixed among the legit auctions. Anything from fake GBA cartridges, PS2 and Dreamcast discs as well as illegally copied PSP UMDs (despite the fact that the PSP isn't even out in Europe yet) has turned up on the site. It's good to see a startup in the video game retail market clamping down so efficiently on the pirates. Especially when there's all that golden bounty to be had! Arrr!
Update: There were no, and I repeat, no copied UMDs found on the auction site. That got strangely added in the time between the original press release and the linked article. Hmmm.

Whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold the phone there. Copied UMDs? HOW?

Haha! In an article about clamping down on piracy the only comment is about methods for ripping cracked games! Love it.

OtakuCODE, that's what I want to know. Can someone please tell me how since even Developer's do not get a UMD burning unit, that hackers made a UMD burn? In all probability it must be just on Memory Stick.

The original Press Release made no mention of copied UMDs. The material removed from the site was infact CD/DVDs containing game images and ISO's of PSP games, not UMDs in any shape or form.
I feel it is important to let you guys know this.
Thanks :)

My conscience is torn between:
a) No! Don't ruin their fun! ;-)
b) I should probably correct the article and delete these comments...
Ooo, I found an option c).

haha, sorry to burst the bubble :-)
Thanks for the prompt addition.
