Worms infest the Nintendo DS and Sony PSP
Looks like there'll finally be a game putting the Nintendo DS's touch screen to the maximum (destructive) use, as Team 17 have announced a DS version of the popular 'Worms' franchise. It'll also be available for the Sony PSP, making use of the analogue stick for aiming of exploding sheep/rockets/airstrikes. The game will also be taking advantage of the wireless features of both consoles (Fanboy mode: how great would a cross platform networkable version be?!) for in-the-street Worms action. Hopefully the developers won't go in over their head and make the game purely 3D. Even if the game is predominantly 3D I still want a 2D classic version. Time to pop the pin of that Holy Hand Grenade!
[Thanks, Lee]

"Looks like there’ll finally be a game putting the Nintendo DS’s touch screen to the maximum use..."
Whaaaaat? Kirby only used the touchscreen for the entire game and did it in a pretty damn good and innovative way.
Anyway, Worms is enjoyable and I'll second "Even if the game is predominantly 3D I still want a 2D classic version."

Oh man, this is going to be crazy. :D Worms Armegeddon for the N64 had to be one of my favourite games of all time. An Online one for the NDS? Too much, man. It would be sick if they made it cross-console, that way I could whup PSP fanboy asses across the ocean. :D

Tight!!! I loved Worms. Especially because it ran on my crappy computer. The games were always fun and I loved when you put the whole arsenal to the test(super weapons). I loved blowing up the stage to the point that only one grenade would destroy the last bit of land. I also loved digging a chamber inside a good chunk of the land and hide in it and have airstrikes and other worms outside of the underground fortress fight.......O boy good times, GOOOOOOD Times.

Sick. Sick. Sick. The number of nights I used to play with friends drunk of our ass...all carpet bombing, super sheep, and ninja ropes...too much. A portable version of the game (lets forget about that puzzle one for GBA) would be fantastic...

Yay! I remember back when everyone was waiting around for DS to come out a Worms game was brought up quite a few times.
I would think the game would be 2D being on ...Gizmondo. Worms 3D doesn't work too good anyway.
Internet connection for Worms actually seems likly because the game is turn based and does not require a load of bandwidth. Plus Team 17 already has Worm Net over there in Europe that they use for the PC Worm games.
Holy Hand Grenade!

cross plat.? who cares.. sony has shit marketshare..
Ollie @ Dec 18th 2005 9:41PM
why do some of you people constantly go out of your ways to ruin a good thing with ideas of cross platforms, marketshares, and my ds is better than your psp because "my wee-wee is bigger then yours" fights? Chill the crap out. Be grateful that they brought back Worms.
