GUN was the subject of a great deal of hype and speculation
at E3. Activision have only now decided to give us a trailer. And some screenshots, of course. The game is looking
good, though the trailer is most definitely NOT for the squeamish.
The western, somewhat bafflingly, is a genre largely ignored in gaming, which is a shame. Tense shootouts in the style
of High Noon and other great westerns are a vast untapped resource for gaming. Unfortunately the industry instead
obsesses over World War II and the like.
Ah well. Maybe GUN will turn that around, ushering in an era of a market flooded with westerns rather than war sims.
We can only dream.

Yeah, I hoped that "Red Dead Revolver" would kick start a new trend of western-based games. Too bad that was a slightly better than mediocre title with horrible AI. At least the duels and the music were fun...

i think its because westerns usually involve shooting indians, kinda taboo.

Now I know why Gun was mysteriously marketed at E3 with no screenshots, no gameply footage, and all hype.

I'm a sucker for Westerns (hell, I liked Red Dead Revolver even with all it's shortcomings), so I have high hopes for this game. The gameplay footage looked mediocre, but they're still working on it.
Here's hoping.

I've wondered lately why no one has even *considered* doing an OIF-based game. There's plenty of material out there, and it would actually be a game about events people *under* 60 remember.
Not to mention such a game would counter the drumbeat of doom(TM) that the press keeps beating.
