It seems that most prominent video game news
comes, in one or another, from Famitsu magazine, and this is no different. Famitsu has learned from an interview
with Tecmo executive Tomonobu Itagaki that Dead or Alive 4 will be an Xbox 360 launch title later this year.
However, he did not mention which region – US, Europe, or Japan – he meant as launch title. As traditions go,
most games are released in Japan first, but since Microsoft is an American company this may not be the case.
Either way, if Dead or Alive 4 is released in at least one region this year, the others will likely follow suit very
soon after.
Expect to see 20 characters, new moves for the returning fighters (at the cost of some of their older moves), and a
"slow shutter" engine that supposedly makes the fighting moves more natural by blurring the characters. Dead or
Alive, despite getting all the attention for its vivacious / voluptuous combatants, delivers a strong and fun fighting
game. I can't remember many fighting games as of late that I have enjoyed, save for maybe Soul Calibur II, and
Dead Or Alive 3 was a strong game. While not as impactful as Halo 3, this would be a good console-seller for
Microsoft's new baby.
