Hot on the heels of the Resident Evil 5 announcement, which conspicuously did not mention the Big N, Sega has come
out with some very strong words in favor of Nintendo's next console. In a recent Nintendo Power interview, Sega's
Simon Jeffrey has discussed how the Sonic franchise has done well on the GameCube and has stated strong support.
Very nice, indeed.
Now let me be a conspiracy theorist and read between the lines. While Jeffrey states that it is "more than
likely" that we'll see old franchises on the Revolution, he also calls Nintendo family-oriented, and Sega is looking at
"which franchises are appropriate for different platforms." I could be paranoid, but we may just see a lot of Sonic or
Super Monkey Ball and a lot less of Shinobi or Altered Beast on the Revolution. Still, it's good to hear some
more support for the Nintendo's next. Still, this strong of support by a major company for Nintendo is sure to
bode well, and I love what Sega has put out on the GameCube - maybe next generation we could see a sequel to
Nights. Now, if we could just see that controller…
