Sega have Secret Level working on a top secret project. A project believed to be the rebirth of a
top
Sega franchise from Days of Yore.
One enterprising individual has discovered that Sega recently filed the name After Burner with the US patent office.
Okay, so it's a bit of a leap, but could it be that this, of all properties, is the one Sega wants to relaunch? Curious
decision if it is!
Sega's big secret revealed?

If it's Afterburner I think that would rock! The only thing I'm hoping is that they take a look at the Ace Combat series for some tips because those are top notch. I'd be glad to see a few more quality military flight sims.

I would have to think that it is somthing hardware related. If they were looking to be just a kickass software company... why sell the 2K Sports series (I personally feel their sports games were the best).

I'm thinking thier are not too many quality franchises left for Sega to relaunch. Sonic and Phantasy Star never really went away. Shinobi was back a few years ago. Altered Beast would be cool in next-gen. Afterburner if done right would be very cool(plese not anything like that Top Gun game)
I don't think their going to bring back Alex Kidd in any world.
I would love to see someone do an updated version of Bonk. All 3 of his games were great.

i heard that sega is developing those titles for the 360, along with a new game called rome: total warrior - which is being made by creative assembly, the company behind the medieval/shogun/rome total·war pc games. incidentally, sega had just purchased creative assembly a month or so ago.
the "total warrior" game is supposed to be somewhat the opposite of the earlier "total war" titles in that, instead of controlling thousands of troops on a battlefield, you are one warrior on a battlefield with thousands. interesting juxtaposition...

Sega has already said that some of their classic titles might be appearing on the Nintendo Revolution. The controller is rumored to have motion sensing gyros. Wouldn't it be sweet playing a next-gen Afterburner where your controller was the yoke??? It seems like flying and driving games would benefit the most from such a setup since you wouldn't be trying to tilt that analog stick just enough the get it to do what you want. Then just a trigger for machine gun and one for missiles. The level of control would be amazing! Imagine something like Pilotwings or Starfox!!!

It is, in Gamesmaster's most recent issue it has a pic of Afterburner in ye olde days and under it says: "Afterburner in the good old days-it'll look nothing like this on Xbox 360."

The ONLY thing I want Sega to release is a portable version of the Sonic Mega Collection for either the DS or the PSP. (Preferred due to the screen size.) That's all.

Whoever left comment #3 needs to be smacked. Afterburner is Afterburner and not Ace Combat for a reason. If you want an Ace Combat, then go play that game.
Afterburner is NOT a sim. It's classic, arcade perfection. As long as Sega doesn't muck it up by trying to turn it into a flight sim, I'll be first in line to buy it. Hopefully I can make it past stage 12 of this version. ^^
