I have a roommate who, throughout the last year, did nothing but play Socom 2 until the wee hours of the morning. This was my first realization that online console games had life on the PlayStation 2, since the majority of attention had been put on Microsoft's soon-to-explode Xbox Live service. Well, for all you other Socom fanatics, here's some good news: the Socom 3 public beta is about to officially begin, which means the game is nearing its final stages of development. If you were lucky enough to partake in the beta, give yourself a hand. If not, just feel warm inside knowing that the release date is just around the corner, October 11th.
