Xbox 360 motherboard leak?

In another possible leak of the Xbox 360, an alleged picture of a Xbox 360 motherboard has surfaced on a french Xbox modding site. The site claims to have received an anonymous tip yesterday with the above picture attached. Above the main image on the blog there's a simple explanation that the left fan is for the GPU and the right fan is for the CPU. Whether this information came from the source or is a guess on the part of the blogger is not known. The image is of low quality and has no legible text.
Back in March when Microsoft showed off the console in its "OurColony" video, there was a real shot of the Xbox 360 motherboard. That picture is included after the jump for comparison. The two pictures, legit and leak, seem to be very similar. The only difference is that the legit shot does not include any fans and that a couple of proud guys are posing with it. I guess the only thing we can derive from the recent leaks is that Microsoft is slacking when it comes to containing the 360. Whether they're intentionally slacking is hard to tell. After all, the previous 360 kid leak provided a lot of free publicity to MS.

I thought they said the CPU would be liquid cooled? Seems like a bogus pic to me. Not that you couldn't have an early version that didn't use a liquid cooling system or something, but I still call BS.

capacitor, port, and mobo-shape is identical. I'd guess this is legit. As for the lack of WC; it might be a devkit, or just an old pic from a demo unit or something.

those blue LED's don't seem very 360... green would be more convincing...

Yeah, I'm starting to think it's all being done on purpose. They may feel they need to steal some Sony spotlight now.

It just looks like an air cooled prototype, nothing strange or fishy about that...
For comparison, look at the cooling required for the Cell processor powered IBM server. It's running at 2.4 - 2.8 GHz, not the full 3.0 Ghz, so it should give you an idea about how much cooling the PS3 requires.

Stop paranoying, this is legit. Look the wires on the left are going out the top of the Xbox like on that Carrot-top kid's picture.

This is possibly one of the dev kit shots, or one of the prototypes. The Power5 CPU and the ATI GPU are supposed to be liquid cooled in some form? And, what about the Power5? Is it 3 cores on one die or 3 separate CPUs? Or a dual core CPU and a single core?
Pic isn't fake, just some version of the 360 mobo that floated around while the system was in development.

I won't presume to know anything beyond a basic understanding of a Motherboard, but I do know that the 360 is a closed box design. There's no viewing window of the innerworkings.
So why are there blue led lights inside the 360 if no one is going to see them?
klinko @ Dec 18th 2005 9:41PM
I doubt the 360's motherboard is covered in blue LEDs.

Really who cares if its fake or not the release date is getting oh so close for the 360.....I cant wait to see some real game previews/reviews.
Arch-360 @ Dec 18th 2005 9:41PM
lol #4 the PS3 HAS no spotlight. while the 360 is becoming more attractive every day the PS3 is looking like junk. not a supercomputer.

That is a xbox motherboard. It looks to me like it might be one that is specifically being used for a test, perhaps a electrical test. The lights being added as a way to prove that proper current it getting to those regions.
