what the fu*k.

so a granny bought her grandson an illegal (for him) game, and now complains about illegal content - please tell me the us judiciary system is sane enough to laugh this out of court?

i mean if this was a 17 year old complaint there might be enough reason to have a case before it being dropped but this is insanity to say the least.

and i'm sure i've never played this "hot coffee" part of sa, oh yeah, it isn't a part of the retail version!

so, will ny state bring charges against the 14 year old's grandmother for cotributing to the delinquency of a minor?

seem like it's the right thing to do if these esrb ratings are to have any teeth...

What a complete f***ing moron! This case will hopefully be thrown out and laughed at as it sits confused on the pavement outside of the courtroom as soon as possible! Foul reactionary old biddy, hahah.

I can hear her on the stand now...

"your honor, I bought this game while shopping for my 14 year old son, along with some beer and cigarettes I usually get for him since he is not able to purchase them either..."

the only difference between a 'M' rating and 'AO' rating is 1 year, i.e. you have to be 18 yrs old buy it. But places like Walmart that wont sell AO games, however they make sure they ask for ID to sell spray paint and super glue. Why cant they do the same thing for the AO games?

How come no one sues the porn industry or the adult magazines (playboy, etc...) when kids get look at that type of sexual content?

the problem with this whole thing is that sure this case will (and should be) laughed right outta court but some yahoo who is of age may turn around and see this as a possible opportunity to launch their own lawsuit. Thats whats not right!

I sure hope you all are right and the courts just drop this. In a pre-"Hot Chocolate" day, I would have fully agreed with you all. However, in light of Hillary and others jumping on the bandwagon to fight the fight (even if it's just to get headlines), it's going to be hard for the courts to drop it.

There are a lot of judges and laywers who are going to want to "ride the train" as well so that they can get their 15 minutes as well.

I can see this or at least a case like the one that TJ mentioned actually being fought.

What cracks me up was I saw a video made using World of Warcraft where they had a human female and a male ogre getting it on in many positions and acts. Showing pretty much the same amount as GTA:SA. Not to mention the "cybersex" that probably goes on in WoW and all MMORPG's out there, and have been going on out there for many years.

she is both, both mis informed and trying to make a buck. ERSB made these rules to protect game companies and she can't touch rockstar so I LAUGH at here foolish attempts. There is also no way from her grandson sneeking into his dads room and taking a few peaks at his collection which would be 1000000000000 x easier than unlocking the content of GTA:San Andreas AO rating stuff.

It's not illegal to buy your kid an M-rated game. It's not even illegal to sell a kid an M-rated game yet, though it probably will be when the nutty politicians are through with it. Technically, as annoying as it is to say it, she should be able to sue, or at least demand a refund for the game, since the content of the game was misrepresented. Of course, if she doesn't care about the kid playing the game for anything except the sex minigame, and she can trust him enough to not download a mod to the game or get one of those PS2 Action Replays or something like that, it shouldn't matter. Sadly, no matter how stupid, she has a case.

A mate of mine works in a gaming store, and now that you mention it he's powerless when standing watching a kid give his dad £40; Dad buys GTA and dad gives GTA to the kid right there in front of him, and there's nothing he can do about it.

Bad parents and a gray legal spot, sad stuff.
