hey guys, just wanted to point out that updating the firmware to anything past v.1.50 means you won't be able to run any of the homebrew projects and other gaming console emulators out there (there's even a homebrew web browser). so, don't upgrade unless you think you'll never use any of these.

#2, i wouldn't say "never". pretty soon, every psp sold will be running v2+ firmware. i have faith that the homebrew crowd will either figure it all out on v2 firmware, or get the psp to boot to another os.

i upgraded to 2.o for two reasons... 1. both my psp's have 1.51 and 2. i have two psp's, i'll keep one with the old firmware just incase hackers open 1.51, then it's elevator action and earthworm jim!!!

check it out! i installed the update and i'm digging it. i used my sidekick to snap a pic of a friend then emailed it to my email account. then i used my psp to grab the pic from my gmail account and saved it to my mem stick. then i loaded THUG2 and and face mapped the image to a new caracter. how sic is that?! all on the fly!

i personally will wait,
but got my PSP last week
come with 1.50
i am quite happy with the Homebrew stuff
so that i can bring less UMD around when going around with the device.
i tried a few of those Memstick boot games copies
and quite a few worked fine.
my attitude toward privacy is that if the game can attract me to play more than once, i'll buy it.
i'd decide to buy "Dead to Right" after go through a few levels "trying" it on the memstick
but i know i wont get Puzzle Bubble which is about the same version i got on my K750i phone, i am not going to shell out US30 for such a game (actually its only about 40MB)
dont flame me, this is a discussion for another thread.
if i upgrade to 2.0 now, i wont get to use these on my PSP..
maybe when the homebrew guys has worked it out with 2.0

hey i just want to know because i plan on getting a psp soon. if i get another memory stick can i save 1.5 on one stick and 2.0 on another or does it not work like that because i really want to play some old games but i heard that some of the new UMD's automatically update the firmware.

You could do that but once you instal 2.0 there so far is no way to downgrade the firmware...so i think its pointless to buy 2 memory cards one with 1.5 and the other with 2.0

But if we upgrade our U.S psp firmware with a universal language Jap firmware like the 2.0 then will we be able to use future U.S firmware updates?

k, i did the 2.0 update, and everything is fine. i can play games, and do everything on it. plus 2.o has a built in theme changer, so who needs PSPersonalizer. here is a link to a simple site i made witha tutorial, and a direct download link to a jap version of 2.0! and yes it is in english too.

I read elsewhere that you can install the jap. 2.0 update and then overwrite it with the american version--though you will need a computer to do both updates
