New Nintendogs pics for you to go all gooey over
They're so damn cute! There's nauseating cute, then there's cute cute. The dogs in Nintendogs are
in
the latter category.
To The Game have posted a collection of ludicrously loveable screenshots of the upcoming Dog sim. So go forth, and
simper like an idiot over these adorable virtual mutts.
One, two, three… How much is that doggy in the window, the one with the waggly tail.
And remember: A virtual dog is not just for Christmas. Unless the batteries run out. In which case it's toast.

When I first read that Nintendogs was selling like hotcakes in Japan I chalked it up to their legendary weirdness. But as I've learned more about the game I've started looking forward to giving it a shot..it really looks like it'll be a blast.

Sure this game looks fun, FOR a 6 year old GIRL!
Ryuukuro @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
I wonder if this will swing attention away from Rockstupid's mess? We could use it.
And virtual pets that don't look like Dr. Seuss's nightmares are always a plus.

I'm worried about what people will think when they see the Doom 3 box laying right next to my copy of Nintendogs....
Frexy @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
I'd rather be a six year old girl than a grownup adult with far too much things to take care of... isn't childhood the best days you had? No worries at all...
*sigh*
I'd pick it up anytime =) Just to give it a go... And get my girlfriend into gaming too ^^;

... and there you have the real difference in the mindset of the Nintendo vs. PSP/PS2 fans...
Sony fans are more concerned with going along with the crowd, being like everyone else, fitting in with what they perceive as being cool. (Sony has done a wonderful job at making the PS the 'cool' system, great marketing for sure.)
Very few of them are true gamers who have put in the hours and years that most Nintendo fans have, and now what a fun game is versus a crappy Parappa type title.
The PSP is definitely a great piece of gear (minus pixel issues), no Nintendo fan will deny that, nor will they choose to not play a game because they are afraid of losing face with their posse.
Andrew @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
Hmm...
Japanese people can't get real dogs?
Instead they have to play with them in videogames?
How sad.

#2. The stereotypical Sony fanboy there.
What's the problem with recognising a good game, isn't "good games" why we are gamers. Do we need to hold an attachment to "one" system. If we don't buy a certain console do we really need a wave of innacurate and ludicrous sh*te and hate? How about being a gamer, is that so odd a concept to you?
I look forward to this stellar game, one that joins the elite of Famitsu 4 (now 5) perfect games.
Seriously, Sony fans like you put us real gamers owning Sony systems to shame.
Cheers for that, by the way.
VeltTo @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
"Japanese people can't get real dogs?

Why do you think EA is selling so much The Sims games although there are many people who have an own life? :)

I've been thinking about getting Nintendogs. I've decided on definitely getting animal crossing DS (and a wireless router) and Twilight Princess, and then theres about 4 other games I'm very interested in getting.
I need to save up money for the next generation (mostly the Revolution, the PS3 doesnt have any games I've seen so far that make it seem worth buying, and I dont plan on buying one until major price drops, and xbox 360, WTF? Wont go near it). I'm 15 and will hopefully be getting a job when I turn 16 in September, and depending on how much I decide to save for college and how much I take out for pocket cash (I'm thinking 80/20% respectively), that'll determine how many extra games I can buy.
One thing about Nintendogs that will make me want it a little more is if there's a way to punish your dog, and if you can abuse that privelige. Playing a game the right way is fun but its also fun to toy with the game. Like Nascar, really racing is fun, but turning around and crashing head on with the car in the lead is equally if not funner.
And at #2: Theres the difference between people who play Nintendo and the mainstream, follower, Sony fanboy: Ninty people will buy and play a game if its fun and well-made (Windwaker, Nintendogs, Katamari Damacy, etc.), and the jackass mainstreamers wont go near a game unless its got realistic blood and gore and guns and violence and an M rating because theyre such braindead jackasses that can't see outside of their idiotic, mainstream, fanboyish bubble and dont know what a good game is but do know how to follow the "hip" crowd and theyre extremely stupid ways. I bet you really are a PSPimp, all the ladies are going for the guys who own a PSP and wear baggy jeans down to their knees and extremely oversized shirts to hide their diminutive wangs because they can't afford a belt because they spend all their money on crack and overly expensive Sony systems. I pity you, and hope one day someone will do you and us all a favor and put a bullet in your head, since you want to be such a ghetto pimp anyways.
Dmitri (Nintendo / Microsoft Fanboy) @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
I admit I am a Sony h4ter. But I try not to act like a jerk about it. They never give what they promise, and I am not suprised their sales are going down and their 460+ billion dollars in debt is rising. But whoever thinks that Nintendo is just a company for children, has obviously got some childhood issues.
Pretty Obvious @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
I can def see both both sides to this story. And #6 put it just perfectly. Sony fans dont know anything about gaming and are just out for a cool looking system. I have friends that hype up the PS3 and all they can say is look at Killzone. What? Look at something thats not even real gameplay, just more lies from the Sony camp.
Then you have Nintendo, a company that releases a few games a year. To the point where people have nothing to look forward to except for crappy games like this one. Can I even call this a game, maybe an upgraded Tamagachi is more like it. Safest bet, stick with Microsoft.
chill @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
#14 Sony fans dont know anything about gaming and are just out for a cool looking system.
Yeah it wouldn't have anything to do with Sony's system having some kick-ass games...Yeah Its Pretty Obvious your a idiot!
Havel @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
Kick-ass games? The only title I can think of that is unique to the PS2 and gives it any credit is Turismo. While this may be enough for some gamers (it definitely is a large game) I personally don't see it being worthwhile. Any other title is readily available for XBox or Nintendo.
"Yeah Its Pretty Obvious your a idiot!" Excellent grammar, another example of a mature Sony gamer I see.
emmie @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
Jake - You can't really punish your dog, you can kind of tap it on the butt and it winces and jumps, but it doesn't seem to have any lasting effect.
Threnody @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
#2 I actually like PS2 games as well, but if I'm going to be buying games for a portable system they might as well be different from the games I'm playing at home. Why pay for the same game twice? And it looks like a lot of people in the gaming press (who are certainly "hardcore") are really impressed with Nintendogs.
Either way a lot of games that sound boring in principle are a blast in practice. Like say, managing a city, rolling around a sticky ball or arranging random shapes to make a straight line.
Havel @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
"Either way a lot of games that sound boring in principle are a blast in practice."
This is probably one of the reasons my GBA is still my most played console even today. (GC and XBox less so.)
The developers don't have a lot to work with in terms of graphic horsepower, or multimedia access, and so are forced to instead rely on creating an actual fun game to build sales.
Not that there isn't a bunch of crap out there for the GBA either, cause it definitely has more than it's share, but the great titles seem to have a very very long play life.
I love all Zelda titles but my favourite is still the original GameBoy one, such fond memories of playing through that game.

I played the demo a couple weeks ago at Nintendo World (New York City). I didn't think it was possible but, I want the game even more now.

#24 I am a PS2 fan, but I am also a Nintendo fan. I really don't see the point of you making negative comments about nintendo's games. Their games are different from playstation, but I find them just as fun. I enjoy games from both playstation and nintendo a lot.
XBOX..well..I only like a few selected titles from them, but I don't go around and bash them. It's a good system, but the games are just not really my type at the moment. XBOX 360 may change my mind though. I will probably end up getting all three next gen consoles, just like now I have PSP and DS. This is how a real gamer should be! No point to bash around
Becky @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
I have a PS2, but I also have many Nintendo systems. I find it hard to find good games on the PS2, because most of them are pretty stupid and violent. There are still many good games, though, like Eyetoy and American Idol.
Both are fun, but are for different types of people. Nintendo is making new, hi-tech, fun, and innovative games, unlike Sony, which is focused on violence and good graphics.
Oh, joy. Blood and gore- NOW IN HIGH DEFINITION!
Sheikh Yerbouti @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
All fanboys are annoying. Nintendogs...
Good as a chick magnet. Good for little girls. What is wrong with saying Nintendo markets to a younger, feminine audience. This game cleary shows they can do it successfully.
But what if Sony came out with PSPuppies. Would it be any less the system it is now.
caustic @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
I really wish some of the posters around here would grow up. I am a nintendo nut, I own (or have owned all of their stuff) including the DS which is a quite brilliantly designed bit of kit. It really has rekindled (and in my wife's case ignited)my passion for gaming. I can't wait for the new zelda and will probably buy a GBmicro. But here's the deal, there are the odd PS2 gaming expreiences I (or is that we?) are missing out on. GTA, MGS, GT, hell even lego star wars (a nintendo game in disguise if ever I saw one). I can't bring myself to buy a PS2 (I can afford it) as its about to die in the next few months. So how about I get myself a PSP too? my brother's got one and it is an amazing bit of kit. Funnily though he doesn't play on it that often as he allready has the PS2 iterations of most of the games, but for me it might just be the way to play some of the PS2 style games I've wanted to for a while. My final thoughts really would be to suggest that sony fanboys could no worse than picking up a DS for a change and for nintendo fanboys to maybe pick up a PSP and enjoy a few "guilty " pleasures along the way....
Lectoid @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM

"...and there you have the difference in the mindset of the Nintendo fans vs PSP fans...
Sure this game looks fun, FOR a 6 year old GIRL!"
this my friends, is a classic example of a SONY fanboy. this sony fanboy is most likely a little coward who follows the crowd, and most likely doesnt allow himself to play a good game because he's SCARED cuz hes a baby and he wonders what other gamers will think of him. and this, is the difference between a nintendo gamer, and a sony gamer. nintendo gamers play games for fun, and just having a good time. they dont care what people think of the games they play cuz theyre happy with it. but sony gamers/fanboys just play for looks. they dont enjoy the game at all, and they have no fun.
so this guy who said the quote above is probably a little coward with no friends at all, trying to make some, by getting a PSP and trashing NDS. anyway, the ds is kicking ass in US and japan. in japan it outsold ps2 and psp combined! and the DS's lineup is also kicking sony's ass.
SONY SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Eskimo Bob @ Dec 18th 2005 9:47PM
Hmmm...I don't see the hype about Nintendogs, but I've never played it. I'm definitely going to get a DS, and if I have any extra money laying around, I'll pick up this game (though I need to buy some things other than video games, and I'm not trying to get a job until I'm 16, since I've heard that it is a bit difficult =P).
