Nintendo: still making money, just not as much

1up Mushroom

Seems Sony isn't the only one who has less-than-idealistic quarterly profits.  Nintendo, who chose this quarter to release less than ten games on its home console - and none of those were exactly hot-sellers - have reported an operating profit 80% lower than last year. And despite how well the Nintendo DS is selling (6.6 million so far), Nintendo still reported an operating profit of 3.75 billion yen (about $33 million).  Still a profit, but compare it with this time last year - 17.47 billion - it does not look as good.  But I guess it was to be expected with such a small release of GameCube titles.  And they are still reporting a profit, so this is not exactly bad news for the company.
