To be honest, I've been hesitant to upgrade my firmware. For the time being, I'm sitting pretty at 1.5 and enjoying
the nostalgia of playing the NES classics of my youth—and waiting for the SNES, Genesis, and other emulators to be
better optimized. I know that some of you are on my side, while others can't imagine why I'd be wasting my PSP on
decades-old games. For now, I also have access to the entire UMD library (that will soon change), can swap my
backgrounds, and convert all sorts of video media with ease into .MP4 format. I don't use my PSP for music or viewing
pictures (outside of the wallpaper hack function).
While the new features in the 2.0 upgrade are certainly intriguing—especially after reading C.K.'s report—I'm almost certain I'll grow tired of browsing the net
with my PSP since I spend 90% of my waking day within reach of a PC that has superior access. However, using my Gmail
account as a remote 2GB storage for media is certainly tempting… But the way I see it, I can upgrade to 2.0 whenever I
want, going back to 1.5 is impossible (for now). If and when I grow tired of playing old school games, I'll upgrade—and
anyway, there'll almost certainly be sufficient 2.0 hacks eventually.
This is an honest debate, and we'd like to hear some other PSP owners' opinions. Who's staying? Who's upgraded? What
do you like about the new features? What don't you like?
Tell us: did you upgrade your PSP to 2.0?
