Just yesterday, we asked for some news and analysis on Windows Vista as a gaming platform and
writers across the world responded. That's the sort of pull we have. (Post hoc ergo propter hoc much? Not us.)
1UP and Extremetech have come out with two strikingly similar analyses of what Windows Vista will mean to gamers, gaming, and games.
Here's a summary: Microsoft appears to be embracing gaming on the PC platform, perhaps in part because they did a little research and learned that after web surfing, gaming is the next-biggest time waster on the PC. Games are also one of the last categories of software where Microsoft truly outshines Apple. In a nut, they're going to be spending a lot of money to promote and brand the PC as a true gaming platform to rival the PS3 and the Xbox 360.
We thought it all sounded like so much marketing hype until we learned that MS has big plans to revamp Minesweeper. Now we know they're serious!
