Just last post I continued a speculative rumor; this time I am going to debunk and destroy one. YouTube.com has a posting of five clips under their Nintendo Revolution category - "Revolution Controller," "Rev Date," "BS Trailer," "Revolution Trailer," and "Xenias AI Demo" - and while most to all these videos were made with good-intentions, they are all (even the not-so-obvious ones) fake.
?Revolution Controller? is an obvious fake, about a man playing with an invisible controller - it?s funny, but
nothing exciting (the ?Revolution? console looks like a piece of wood painted black with a blue line of paint
representing the DVD tray). ?Rev Date? is horrible production quality, but the April 12 2006 date is
hopeful. And ?revolution trailer? claims itself to be a home movie. The last two movie clips are the
biggest in the rumor mill - a Broken Saints game trailer and an AI Demo for ?Xenias.? First, ?Xenias? is actually a rip
of an ATI demo to show off its video cards. Oh
well.
The Broken Saints game trailer could very well be for the Revolution, but no one knows for sure. Broken Saints
is known in Revolution lore for its web site, which started the
rumor that Nintendo?s next console would have a
holographic screen. This is a Broken Saints trailer; you can view a higher-quality version of it
here from the main site. But it is an artist?s rendition
and does not mention which of the next-generation consoles it is coming out for (but, from the creator?s enthusiasm,
likely will come on the Revolution).
So there you go, a rumor started and a rumor squash - not bad for a Sunday.
[Thanks, Sean]
