although i love ff7 as much as the next guy, i would rather see a brand new FF7 sequel (and no a movie doesnt really count). I completed that game several times as i'm sure some of the FF fanatics have, why play it again with fancy grahics. Unless they add a ton of new moves and extras, i really don't want a remake, i'm happy with the one at the moment.

Like Star Wars before it, there's no need for a remake of a classic. Movies are different because...well, there movies, they are a much more mainstream form of entertainment, and they have budgets that could pay off all my parents' debt, but games seem to be getting near the same treatment these days.

A remake of FFVII is just stupid. I understand a LOT of people love this game, and I honestly never finished it, but I've seen every cut scene on TV twice over, heard One Winged Angel enough to make my ears scream into my sub-conscious, and have seen enough cosplay people that I can imagine what the rest of the game was like, even though I was only literally about 20 minutes or less into the game.

Let the game remain a classic in it's original 3D glory that is the PS1 stage of graphical evolution and let it stay that way. Besides, RPG's seem to be the worst way to show off next-gen power. One of the reasons because the cut scenes are gorgeous and the actual game doesn't look quite the same, and because I want to see all these engines working at max power.

Give me a Half-Life 3, a new Crash Bandicoot, a Star Wars game that matches or even outdoes the actual CG scenes from the movie, but not the same thing from 10 years ago.

Actually the FF7 tech demo was generated real time(they said), meaning the game WOULD look that good. Obviously the camera work wouldn't be as cinematic, but the models/skins would be just as nice.

I would totally buy a remake. They have plenty of reason to remake it as well. Know why? They rereleased a little game called FF:Dawn of Souls on the GBA to bring in a new audience. They made a new killing. I already played FF1/2 from when they released Origins on the PS1, but my point is still proven. I would have never gone back and experienced those games if they weren't released(and souped up to match their SNES counterparts). They could draw in a new audience to experience what could arguably be called SquareSOFT's greatest accomplishment. Sure, it wouldn't be the same. The approach they took with FF7 was similar to the SNES versions. The characters were stylized to look animated, and often their animations were cartoonish. They had oversized heads and often looked like they should be on Jimmy Neutron. It wouldn't be the same if they remade it, but I'd definitely play it.

And no, not for the sheer ability to stare at Tifa's breasts during the entire game. Although that is a big plus... a 'pair of triple D' sized plus.

I just want a square enix game where the hero isnt a fucking slack ass loser who whines about everything. FFXII isn't looking that way, but if they remade FF7 or 8 I'd be in business. To see Cloud/Cid/Irvine/Tifa/Squall redone, i'd kill a goat.

I really hope they would remake it for PS3 too. I would definitely get it. Besides the old gamers, it would also bring it a lot of new audience.

I support games where the characters don't look like they have painted barbells for arms. Are they going to fix all the other problems with FF7 - being all of it?

Actually, Ivalice has already been in 2 worlds and is about to be in a 3rd (XII), but that's really picking straws...

I'd definitely be interested in a re-done FFVII, if only to finally have a finished Aerith/Aeris storyline.

The Aerith storyline is done... She died, via sword through her. Her spirit was in the lifestream, hence the only reason holy worked.

And FF7 was STYLIZED. The characters weren't supposed to look real, FF8 was the first to do that. The Popeye arm look was fun I thought. Guess I'm the only one who doesn't think things have to be realistic in order to be fun or attractive though.

As for Ivalice... It's a different world with the same name in each game. That's like saying Birmingham, Michigan is the same as Birmingham in the United Kingdoms. Same name, dramatically different. FFT had NO other races other than human, that should be the first hint. Second, all the places and history don't carry over to FFTA. Also, third (spoiler if you haven't really played FFTA), the FFTA world was a dream world created by that bitch Newt. It was an imaginary world. FFXII's Ivalice(what's the origin of that name?) is an actual world, there are also airships... So it's not FFTA's world(since it was only Newt's dream), and it can't be FFT's Ivalice because of the different races/judges.

"never featured the same characters"

i believe the character name 'cid' has been in every incarnation of final fantasy. sure he's looked different from game to game but essentially he's always portrayed the same character each time.

2 words for Square... MAKE IT!! And i also have a good reason why they should. People want the game remade on the PS3! If the game made so much money when it came out for the PS1, why not remake it for the PS3, (Because people want it that bad), and make even MORE money? Lets just say, if this game gets released, it will make MILLIONS and MILLIONS of $$$! And also... I WANT IT TO BE DONE!!! I'm a huge fan of the game, and just thinking of an improved version of the old one makes me shiver... If the game is done and released in N-A and everywhere else, the game will be loved and bought by millions and millions of people. And I'M one of them!!

Final Fantasy VII is considered almost a sacred thing in the gameworld. I and a massive amount of other players want Final Fantasy VII to be remaked. Final Fantasy VII shouldn't be left in the past. PSX --> PS3 update would be utterly significant. When and if the remake never comes out there is no doubt I will buy the game and the platform to get my hands on it!

I think that Square-Enix should consider the possibility of making sequels to all their popular Final Fantasy games, sure Final Fantasy VII was one of the best, but there are also others in the series that I think would make enjoyable sequels, not to mention interesting story ideas for making movies.

Can I just say, Re-make it! Please! I mean don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of the original in all it's gloy, and no doubt would continue to play it even if/when a re-make came out.

But it's true, it would make them millions. Fans everywhere would be buying the game to see thier favorite world updated and enhanced. If it came out I'd buy it in a heartbeat and then run out and buy the game consol no matter the price, just so I could play it.

The Demo was gorgeous, and if the whole game played like that, wel lthat's just amazing. I really hope they make it.

lol Can you imagine Wallmarket Cloud? teehee.

A remake would be sweet and although I'd admit buying it, what's the point? The fun of a new game is to discover new things so in the end is there isn't much point i giving us a nice pretty game when all it's gonna be is the same package.

So, what should be done? There is potential to continue the plot along. I've seen the Japanese version of Advent Children and there are lines in the movie screaming for a sequel.

So, rather than give us a pretty new copy of the same game, I'd rather see a brand new game, continuing the story. Of course, if they wanted to give us both I wouldn't be complaining...
