By october I will have $400 canadian and I really hope to get this. I cannot wait for the release date and the price. Microsoft is really doing well with their ideas. I hardly even give a shit about revolution or PS3 anymore. I *assume* the price will be around 200-300. But who knows.

Controller can turn the system on and off is what it should read.

why has Sony continually designed such a crappy way of turning the PS2 and PS3 on/off?

kudos to MSFT.

I still want to hear if the 360 will be able to play back other video formats like DiVX and/or Xvid. It's gimped as a media extender if it only does WMV.

If it doesnt play all formats I am sure that there will be certain parties that will have a feature implemented similar to the way that the xboxmediacenter.com thing has worked out. Which works out very nicely.

"why has Sony continually designed such a crappy way of turning the PS2 and PS3 on/off?"

So you have already seen the PS3 in action? Could you tell us more about the PS3? And why is so crappy about turning on/off with the PS2? Dont tell me you still turn it off with the switch behind the console.
Turning on/off PS2 is very similar like an Xbox, I dont know how it is so crappy about it.

And then say goodbye to your Live play. Knowing Microsoft they've "learned their mistakes" and will fix all that the modding community liked about the original.

Look! You can swap faceplates! We're mod-a-riffic!

#8. lol yes its still in the back. if you looked carefully at the released pictures of it, then you would see it.
and yes it IS crappy because while the 360 has advanced in turning off the console from the controller, you have to get up, and turn it off from the BACK to turn off your PS3.

" I *assume* the price will be around 200-300 [canadian]. But who knows."

I wouldnt plan on it. The cheapest it would probably release for would be $299.99 USD, which is over $360 canadian. And at $300 USD it would be a relatively good deal. The previous Xbox was that price at launch, and obviously didnt include a wireless controller, media remote, or HD A/V cables. Those are accessories that that would have cost an extra $100 on the xbox that are rumored to come standard with the x360.

"I still want to hear if the 360 will be able to play back other video formats like DiVX and/or Xvid. It's gimped as a media extender if it only does WMV."

I agree that its gimped if it only plays Windows Media formats, but when you think about microsoft, would you expect anything else? Besides .wav, wma, and wmv, maybe it will play .mp3 and mpeg, but i seriously doubt that it will be supporting like ogg vorbis or XviD.

So... isn't this a confirmation, of sorts, that the pic that showed the QWERTY keyboard was in fact real?

Well, if they're showing it supporting iPods I'd assume it would support mp3 on top of wma. I just want to see DiVx and Xvid support. Or at least the ability to add codecs.

If there is a video or audio code that WindowsXP MCE will support, the 360 should support it as well.

Arch-360: Once again, your moronic words pollute the Joystiq forums... The PS2 does NOT have to be turned off from the back. All you do is hold the button in the front for two seconds, and it turns off. Yes, the little light stays dimly lit, but I assure you, it's off. The PS3 will more than likely be the exact same as far as the power goes. The switch on the back is for turning the actual power supply off, just like on a computer.

I kinda like how sony went back to the pop-up tray to put the disc in. On the PS2 I would sometimes find a late response whenever I press "open", so I would press again and it would open and close.

Gee, I thought that DVD technology was over 10 years old but Bill Gate$ says it is next generation! Oh well I can always buy the Xcast 361 in 2 years or so right?

Seriously, curb your enthusiasm young people, the Xbox 360 is certainly the NOW but it ain't the FUTURE. M$ft is seriously short-changing consumers in the name of first mover advantage.

Don't hate me, hate the truth!

LOL. Its just the now because there is no HD-DVD/Blu-Ray. I hope you are joking. Developers have plenty of room on standard DVDs, and especially with compression techniques you can get alot on one DVD. Blu-Ray or HD-DVD may provide something for movies, but not for games.

Heh, meh... so a DVD9 isn`t big enough for next gen games? What a load of crap! Funny thing now is that there are only a couple of games worth having on ANY of the current formats (some GREAT games on GC with "only" 1.5GB) that take up (just) more than a DVD5. I`ve always been an early adopter of any console, and I probably always will be, but the DVD9 / HD / BluRay MARKETING "issue" doesn`t worry me at all. x360 WILL rock, as will the PS3 and the Revolution (really looking forward to what they do with the controller).

Pantaloons!

#24, you don't need HDMI for Hi-Def, component cables are just fine and in many cases better than HDMI. Take a look at this http://forum.ecoustics.com/bbs/messages/34579/122868.html
